dewilso
Bet that subject line has been on here a bunch of times ! Butttt, I’m buying a new car & MH in Iowa. Since I live in Livingston, I want to register & title in Texas, but I don’t want to drop all the way back down there to do the deed. I was gonna head west from here so I thought that I might go thru the panhandle to register if I could. Can you register outside of your home county ? Quote Dave W. KE5GOH Stuck in the 70's --- In E. Barbaraok
No, you register in the county where you will be located. Luckily Polk County makes it easy. Here are the forms for passenger car and motorhome (which are on the Escapees.com website) and there is a number to call. The folks in Polk County know how to do this by mail. Couldn't be nicer, easy to work with, even sent me a check back when I overpaid a little. Read through these links and call them if you have any questions. You can also go to the Texas DMV website and download the forms, which can be filled in on the computer and then printed and sent in. https://www.escapees.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Passenger_Car.pdf https://www.escapees.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Motorhome.pdf Quote Barb & Dave O'Keeffe 2002 Alpine 36 MDDS (Figment II), 2018 Ford C-Max HYBRID Blog: http://www.barbanddave.net SPK# 90761 FMCA #F337834
Kirk W
I suggest that you visit the Polk County Assessor's page and get your information or give them a call. They are used to doing this sort of thing and will have answers. Phone: 936-327-6801 Fax: 936-327-6885 Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... dewilso
As I said, I live in Livingston, Polk Co. Texas, I just don’t want to do a 900mi detour to go there to get Texas plates if I can get them in another county. Quote Dave W. KE5GOH Stuck in the 70's --- In E. ROUS
We did this by mail and found the Polk County tax office staff to be very helpful. We did find the fee table confusing and messed up the amount needed. So, if you do this by mail, you might call them to verify amounts before you send in your paperwork and money. sandsys
Can you arrange to be somewhere the plates can be mailed to you? Some dealers will let you have the plates sent to them for you to pick up there. If not, the drive down I-35 is an easy one so going south first is not really a big deal. When I was a snowbird I traveled that route from Minnesota to Livingston and back each year with a drive across I-10 to Arizona in between. dewilso
Thanks all, guess this is a RTFA problem for me, instead of a RTFQ. Quote Dave W. KE5GOH Stuck in the 70's --- In E. Texas
