2gypsies
Staying IN the parks will give you the best park experience and shorter travel times. For Yellowstone we've stayed at Mammoth campground (our favorite), Madison and Bridge Bay with our 40' MH. For Grand Teton we've stayed at Gros Ventre (our favorite) and Colter Bay campgrounds. Each national park has a great website giving things to do, camping information, weather, road information and special alerts. Check them out. Kirk W
Welcome to the Escapee forums! I agree with gypsies on staying inside of the park if possible. You will need reservations to do that as the sites are limited in number and reservations fill early. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... trailertraveler
Welcome to the Escapees Forum!! Where you stay will to some extent depend on whether you want hookups and the size of your RV. If you are planning to visit Yellowstone in 2019, as noted on the Park's website; Fishing Bridge RV Park is closed for the 2019 season. It is the only campground in Yellowstone with hookups. This means that there are over 300 fewer full hookup sites available in the area. If you can dry camp, the seven first come first serve campgrounds in Yellowstone have some longer spots. Check the link above. Only Mammoth and Norris campgrounds allow generator use. Canyon Campground is very popular and I think convenient for touring much of the park. All the concession run dry campgrounds allow generator use. There are a number of Forest Service campgrounds outside the park which may or may not have sites for larger RVs. Baker"s Hole and Rainbow Point on the West side have some electric sites as do Rex Hale and Wapiti on the East side. Again, welcome to the Escapees Forum!!
