HELP with slides

Recommended Posts

I was putting in my slides last night and the living room slide came in with no problems but my kitchen slide stopped before it was closed.  I tried to push it back out but nothing happened.  I then tried to move my living room slide back out and nothing.  Both my slides no longer work.  When I push the button you hear nothing no motor trying to run just silence.  I only have 2 slides the kitchen slide is a full wall slide.  I checked the fuses and they seem to be ok.  I have searched the internet to try and figure out how to manually slide them out but can find nothing.  I have a 2016 Lifestyle LS37CKLS and cannot find a lot of info on these 5th wheels.  I have logged onto there forum and have not received any info I can use.  Is there anyone that can tell me what could be the problem or how to manually move my slides.

How did you check the fuses? The only way to be certain a fuse is good is by removing it and checking it with an ohm meter. It should read 0 ohms or very nearly that when good. Also, how many fuses are there to supply the slides? Are your slides electric or hydraulic?  Do you know which slide manufacturer made the slide mechanism?

I have a meter and yes the fuses read 0.  The slides that are is these units are Alko-Kober.  The system is the same as the cameo 5th wheels.  I have talked with several tech and they keep telling me to look for relay reset but they can't tell me where to look.  Everything in my 5th wheel is working fine except the slides.

We have two thermal breakers, one for the slides and one for the leveling feet.  I believe they are 50 and 90 amps.  Both are small 2 or 3 inch cubes in size are located in the 12v battery compartment.  They are very difficult to see unless the battery tray is slid out.  Each one has a "flag" on the side that will pop up when they blow.  To reset them just push the flag down into the breaker.  Because you hear no sounds when you press either of your slide switches I think you have an electrical problem and if your batteries are well charged I'd look for a breaker or relay that needs to be reset.  Slides and feet draw lots of amps to work.      Greg

I wouldn't be surprised if the switches for both slides use the same ground, and that ground is loose/disconnected.

On my Lifestyle Alfa Gold, the ground for the 4 slides was connected to another ground wire to the frame.  It is located in the basement behind the wall panel that protects the utility hookups.

I have a 2015 Lifestyle LS36FW with the same basic slide configuration. On mine both slides are independent of each other. There are 2 fuses for each slide, 1 for the switch and relay board and 1 for the motor. Both are located in the 12 volt fuse panel in the front storage compartment. Also on the full wall slide make sure the bedroom door is latched open because that is a limit switch. There is a 5/8 stud on the gear box that allows you to crank the slides manually but you need to remove the brake from the end of the motor or you will be fighting the brake. There are also 2 switches in the same panel as the switches that operate the slides that disable the slides. Double check your fuses.
