Mini split location

My current mini split mount has rubbed on the pavement a couple of times. Not anything damaged but not something I care to have. I was looking under back of Teton and looks like a unit will fit where the spare tire is. Fairly large deep area. Large enough to allow good air flow too I believe. Going to be putting a 36k unit on. Put spare on truck.

A 3 ton mini-split will freeze you out of there in death valley in the summer. Which model have you chosen? Are you going to use the existing holes from your factory roof mounted ACs for mounting drop-in evaporator cassette ceiling units, or do you plan on using wall mounted interior units? Two zone or three?

Sounds like an Interesting project - that should have come from the factory. Much quieter, better cooling, higher efficiency and lower electric consumption. Maybe they'll get the hint one day.

The only issue I might have is service. Most residential seviced personal are accustomed to units on ground, easy to get to. Would have to get under the Teton and sit on butt to work on it. We are at their mercy since we can't buy the gas.

I didn't know this about not being able to buy the gas. Shoot. I wanted to DIY this.

Yes, one has to have a license to buy it. Now if you know someone???? I have a vacuum pump, gauges, know how. Just no license. If you can keep the lines within the pre charged gas amount, all you have to do is pull a vacuum. It would be advisable to pressurize with nitrogen first to check for leaks. Much better test than vacuum. My bedroom unit will need extra.
