Dave Lefevre
I have a 2013 Class A Winnebago that does not have heated basement or tanks. We are stationary for a couple months and will be in below freezing weather. My compartments have opening to my tanks and previously I have used trouble lights in the compartments for protection. I am thinking of getting two thermostatic controlled compact space heaters to more fully protect my tanks (not real accessible) and water outlets. I am obviously concerned about fire but thinking a thermostatic controlled device might be OK. Looking for opinions>
sandsys
Portable heaters have clearance requirements. I have trouble imagining a basement compartment empty enough to have the required clearances. folivier
I've used these before to turn on/off an incandescent light in the basement: https://www.amazon.com/Farm-Innovators-TC-3-Thermostatically-Controlled/dp/B0006U2HD2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537035851&sr=8-1&keywords=thermocube Back on the road again in a 2011 Roadtrek 210P 2011 Tahoe 4x4, 2006 Lexus GX470, 2018 Ranger XP1000, 2013 RZR 570LEhttp://finallynewellin.blogspot.com/
Kirk W
If you do this, in addition to making sure that there is ample space around the electric heater, I strongly suggest that you install some of the wireless interconnected smoke detectors both in the bays and at least one in the living spaces. If one triggers all will alarm, which we use in the RV and also in our stick house. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... The one you gave the link for looks like it would be perfect for the bottom storage area of a class A or fiver. Dave, are you expecting temps in the mid 20's and lower? If so are you also looking into a heated water hose or are you just going to run off your fresh water tank? Bill Joyce
Wal-Mart now sells a Soliel heater for about $10 that is much like the Lasko Personal as an alternative. I think it is a 250 watt heater and I have seen it in many a Wal-Mart and own one. I also own a Lasko Personal heater and have no preference. Dave Lefevre
Thank you all for the comments. At this point I am sticking with 75 watt bulbs on a thermostatically controlled receptical.
