Grassy
We have narrowed it down to 6 possible locations in Texas for Christmas..and they are close to a major airport wish is import to us. I thought pull throughs would be more available here but I guess back in is the norm..which is OK as long as there is room to do so. Here is the list in no particular order. Comments (good / bad ) would be appreciated. We will have our 23/25 year olds with us. We will be in the Mission area.. We are checking availability now.. Mission Bell Trade Winds - both Trade winds and Mission bell parks Oleander Acres - doesn't have a map on it's web site Beson Palm Village RV resort Benson Palm RV Park Mission West RV park Chimney Park We cannot seem to find "family Friendly" RV parks in the area.. Al F
You might change your subject line to "Looking for locations for Christmas in Rio Grande Valley" instead of Locations in Texas. You will probably get more replies. It looks like you settled on the RGV area and not all of Texas. TXiceman
South Texas fills up with Snow Birds every winter. Waiting this late may present some problems in finding a site. Good luck hunting. Grassy
Thanks. We are snow birds And so far, availability...we contacted a few this am and have heard from a few,,, apparently, the political climate is scaring off some Cdns from coming down so that means more availablilty for is I take it no experience with the above ? We are also interested in one outside.. Magic Valley Park, Weslaco . Arctic Fox 29-5T . Beagle co-pilots - Faffy and Lulu
2gypsies
Bentsen Palms Resort looks nice and also Retama Village has rental lots. Bentsen mentions 55+ but I don't know the 'guest' policy for those under that age. How long will the younger adults be with you? These parks are in a pretty area of a worldwide birding facility. We used to stay at the birding facility when it was a state park. Not all areas of the city are this pretty. https://www.bentsenpalm.com/active-adult/rv-resort/guest-services/ Full-timed for 16 YearsTraveled 8 yr in a 2004 Newmar Dutch Star 40' Motorhome and 8 yr in a 33' Travel Supreme 5th Wheel
Bill w/bus
We stay in Mission West RV Resort for the winter. Grass sites $999 for 3-5 months. Concrete is $1250. We frequently have kids and families visiting for one to two weeks. Mission West is a smaller park, 300+ plus sites, with nice sized lots. about 30X50. Most of the other parks are much tighter. Pool is good and warm. Check out the website. Bill Bill & Lynn Baxter MCI102A3 Conversion, Detroit Diesel S50

Ken The number of Winter Texans has been declining for some time now, and there are likely more spots available in the RGV then there have been for quite some time. The University of Texas RGV has been conducting a bi-annual study for many years. The estimated number of Winter Texans in the Valley peaked in 2000-2001 at 143,000. The last figures (2015-2016) put the numbers at 96,000. This is obviously a troubling trend regarding economics in the Valley, but likely opens up visitation for first-timers. TXiceman
Mark, there may be fewer showing up, but winter sites are still hard to find on shorter notice. So yes, you could say that! This is actually a pretty interesting report that explores the changing tastes and priorities of full-time and long-time RV'ers. I would imagine that these trends may be felt in other Snowbird Communities like Florida and Arizona as well. 2015-2016 Winter Texan Report Mark & Teri 2021 Grand Designs Imagine 2500RL, 2019 Ford F-350 Mark & Teri's Travels

The Quiet Assassin
Benson Palm RV Park would be my choice especially if you are a birder as they next to a major birding center. We really liked the layout and plantings. When we were there it was booked up months in advance for Jan to March. rynosback
I have spent the last three winters in Mission, TX. We stayed at Green Gate Grove. LOVED it there. It is right up the street from Benson Palm. It is a community mixed with houses, park models and concrete pads for RVs. 2015 Ram 3500 RC DRW CTD AISIN 410 rear 2016 Mobile Suites 38RSB3
