I use the WAZE app on the iphone to tell me about traffic and construction and police speed traps.

Please clarify does the WAZE tell you or require your eyes? I'm the sole driver pulling the RV and pulling the RV is the only time I may have the CB turned on. If I start hearing lots of chatter I may have to reach and feel the volume switch to turn the volume knob.

Clay I just started playing with Waze and on my Android phones after reading about it here, it seems to take the place of Google maps and Nav. It adds real time input from others on the road. Just download it to your phone and play with it. If you don't like it you can just uninstall;l it. I don't use my tablet or computer for Nav these days, both of us use out Moto  Z 5.5 inch Android Phones for Nav duties and she gives great verbal over our vehicle audio systems. Go to the Play store and try it, it's free to try. Offroad had an iPhone version so it is on all smart phones. Go to the Apple app store or whatever they call their app store if you have an iPhone.

Ray, you can't use your ham license on CB band.  This weekend is amateur radio Field Day.  Google it and through ARRL you can find a local club participating in Field Day.  Visitors are welcome at these events.  Find one near you and visit.  If they have a GOTA, Get on the Air station.  Unlicensed individuals can get on the air with a licensed Ham.

I know, CB is now unlicensed, mine though was KEW0304 back when we had to comply with many of the Amateur radio regs. Can't leave home for 1/2 a day, I'm chief caregiver for DW.
