Camping in Acadia National Park

Be careful of vehicle length. Last time there it was 35 ft and all dry camp. There are many commercial campgrounds in the Bar Harbor area. However all commercial campgrounds are expensive in the tourist areas. Traffic during the heavy tourist is very heavy and slow.  That written the scenery is spectacular.

Enjoy your stay,

We have never been to Acadia National Park. Which campsites in the park would you recommend as ideal for great location for view and stay experience with a 36' Class A?

If you are looking to stay this summer season, probably any campsite you can still get a reservation for.  While I have not specifically checked Acadia for this year, these very popular NP's fill up very early.  Many times they fill within minutes or a few hours of the reservation window opening.

If you happen to be ELKS, the bargains are the ELKS Lodges in Maine. Elsworth is right outside the entrance to Acadia - dry camping only. Further south Rockland is great, electric only but very close to town.

We personally like the Deer Island area more than Acadia. Very quiet and scenic away from the tourists. The Maine Maritime Academy is well worth a stop for a tour of their training ship "State of Maine" (Which I happened to help design many years ago!).
