Have some old gasoline - how old is too old?

We run our portable generator at least 20/30 mins every month as  preventive  maintenance  so the fuel is constantly being refreshed.

Actually it doesn't;

Absolutely.  Nowadays, I can go a full month or more on a tank.  Not so when I was young, I stayed on the road.  ☺️

I always use Premium gas in small engines and they all still start and run after many months of disuse.

Premium gas is a bit of a marketing thing. The only difference is higher octane and if your engine doesn't benefit from higher octane according to its design then there's no benefit. Just trying to be helpful.

The biggest problem with fuel storage right now is ethanol. If you are going have to let a small engine go unused for like 2 years then you are better off with a canned product like Trufuel.

It's a good practice I believe to let your generator cycle through a tank at least once every six months to a year.

All true - when gas is used daily.

The point is;
If octane degrades 10 percent over 18 months, which octane grade would you want in the tank?
