How about Class of 1996?  We took off without a computer or cell phone.  Spent many hours standing in a telephone booth in cold temps and eventually got Pocketmail which was an acoustic coupler devise that you held up to a phone to send & receive messages. That certainly tied up the phone booth!

Been there.  Done that!  :D

Although we did have a computer with us.  Lugged the computer down to the RV park office where they either had a dedicated line (dial up in those days...no wireless) for computers, or...more often than not...they had to unhook their phone or fax machine.  Downloaded email (no time for surfing), took the computer back to the RV to read the emails and respond.  Then lug the computer back to the office to send the responses.

We also had a Pocketmail and a few other devices whose names escapes me.
