mr. cob
Howdy All, I am at the point of ordering under deck storage boxes, I read through the resource guide and have some questions. I am interested in steel boxes, weight really has nothing to do with it, cost does and aluminum is spendy. The boxes that will suit my needs are 24"x24"x24" one on each side of the truck, hung from underneath the deck. I have been given quotes varying from 600 dollars to well over 1,000 bucks, for two boxes as I described. 14 gauge metal to 12 gauge metal, I figure at most I would have maybe a 100 pound load in each box, they are rated at 250 pounds. So who did you buy from, if you don't mind what was your cost, looking at what you got would you buy from those folks again or would you go with a different brand, things you like, don't like about your boxes, things you wish you had different. One of the most important questions to me, as I live where it rains 89 inches per year, are you satisfied with the weather protection your boxes give? Any and all information especially photos will be greatly appreciated, Thanks. If you don't mind how big are your boxes and what did they cost I am trying to get an idea of what I should be looking at for cost for what I want. Shipping for items like this is very expensive due to the size and weight of the product. Thanks. They offer standard size also ready to ship. Had to build mine. Quality costs more and these are top quality. Also if shipped to freight Depot and you pick up freight lots less. 2003 Teton Grand Freedom towed with 2006 Freightliner Century 120 across the beautiful USA welding pipe.https://photos.app.goo.gl/O32ZjgzSzgK7LAyt1

GlennWest
I bought a standard size Byers box from home depot for the rear. 24x24x24. No where near the quality of American Truck Box. RickS
Dave, This seems like a decent price for the Buyer's stuff here. But so far as the mounting bracket I'd weld those out of some angle iron myself. Howdy Rick, Thanks for the link, for what I am looking for their prices are still quite high. So far the best price/quality for what I want is from American Truck Box, its the 220 dollar shipping that giving me heart burn. I am working with a local RV accessory shop to get a price on some boxes by a company called ProTech, they are made a 100 miles from my home but they only sell through retailers. I am burning up the internet looking for the stuff that will be bolted onto or under the deck that's going to be built. I looked on ebay but couldn't find anything in the size I want, then again my ability to search for stuff is notoriously lacking in achieving worthwhile results. After getting mine from ATB, I regretted buying mine. I found that yes the drop down door can hit you in the shin. The door can also act a a shelf to hold items while moving then in or out of the box. To me a great convenience. I glued rubber floor mats to the door insides to protect the door from item impact. Big feature to look for is the seals. Also, a 36" box can be too wide for a single latch, the door can warp. Radar274
Hope the picture shows up. These Boxes cost almost as much as the steel to build the complete deck but where well worth the $'s. American Truck box primed them so they wouldn't rust until the deck was completed. After completing the deck I had the deck and boxes sand basted and powder coated. Click For Full-Size Image.
