My previous thread kinda got off topic so I thought I would start again with some updated pictures.

For those that said my ramps are too short.

Unfortunately I will be traveling for work most of the next 3 weeks, so it will be a while before I get this finished.

Latches into the 5 wheel on the truck.

Is this so you can remove/install the bed easily? I was actually suggesting something like this to a buddy of mine who uses his truck for work.

Ah-Ha!  Makes perfect sense.  What do you use to locate/secure the front of the bed?  I can imagine a pair of "receivers" with engagement dogs for a three point system.

Got some more done on the bed over the past week.

As of this evening, I have the decking all installed and welded down. Just need to make the doors for the top of the hitch well. Then a bunch of cleaning and painting.

I also have been reminded how much I hate welding while laying on my back!

I think the body is done now. Just need to put on a few reflectors, but want to let the paint age some more.

I think the wife needs to wash her car.

Someone had asked about what I was doing for hitches a while back. It's built for bumper pull or gooseneck. I don't have any plans for a fifth wheel.

And here's a few more pics of how the body mounts.

And now I need to move on to the interior remodeling. I seem to have a hole in my cab.

That is nice. I really like that. I need a couple windows too but not ready to start cutting holes.

Moresmoke    You are on the right path. Down on the outer banks of NC when ever a shop is building a boat to big for the shop they just build a frame of 2x4's and then put the blue tarp on. You just forgot to build the frame or you just ran out of time!! The bed sure looks good!  There were several trucks at the ECR that had the super singles. They look good and everybody that had them said they could really tell a good difference. Pat

Making more progress. New wall panels installed in the sleeper.

The white crap on the ground is finally gone! Time to empty the shed out.

The real reason I wanted more truck.

I need to take my truck into the dealer to have some computer settings changed, so I figured I might as well load/hook up for a test run.

And just for fun I wanted to see how much difference there is in length.

I think I might finally be done! Which is good because we leave on vacation next week.

If you are going to tackle a project like this and want to do all the work yourself, you better be multi talented. Had to break out the sewing machine today.

I mounted the seat on top of the bed framework that was already there. I didn't want to go through the effort of shortening the frame, and removing it was out of the question since I wanted to keep the rear HVAC. This made the seat a bit tall, so I built a 4 inch riser in front of it. The benefit of this turned out to be covering up the holes in the floor mat left from the cabinets. Also, the rear passengers are a bit higher so have a better view out the front.
