Breaking the News that You're Hitting the Road Full-Time

Recommended Posts

Jo Ann and I had been married for over 20 years before the question of what to do in retirement came up. We liked SW MO for the climate and reasonable cost of living, but we had no family connections there and our place was too far from church. We initially looked at various places in SW MO, but nothing really jumped out at us. One day one of us mentioned the idea of full-timing and it turned out that both of us had thought of that but somehow it had never come up.

We spent a couple of years doing our research, and our kids were well aware of what we were thinking about. Our parents are long dead, and other family is scattered all around the country, so selling our place and hitting the road seemed like a reasonable idea. I suspect that our siblings questioned our sanity, but then that's nothing new. They questioned our sanity when we decided to homeschool our kids, too.
