Today is Windows Updates Day

Just a reminder. If you are data challenged time to go hit the local free wifi restaurant or library. Not a giant update today. I did all my systems and all are fine.

Remember, because of the defective Intel hardware, they have put out bad patches then removed them and are slowly getting it all right so we can be a bit slow but no longer attackable through the Intel flaws.

So until the flaws are fixed by us buying new computers, or Intel paying for replacements like a car recall, (class action suit anyone?) our best bet is to do all the patches every patch day, the second Tuesday of each month, and any emergency patches they put out in between.

I don't envy the folks still on the road because all Operating systems are updating and patching more than ever whether in the background like the ones you set up to auto update like many programs do like Firefox which must have done three updates in the last week. LInux gets patches as does Apple. It's wise to keep them up to date for the ten year support period Windows currently supports thei OS versions for as well as their software like my 6 licenses for Office Pro 2010, which are supported with security updates until 2020. THen I will likely do a family office 360 or switch to Libre Office which now is good enough for me as I domn't do databases anymore.

The updates are not all for Intel, AMD is affected as well but it seems that Microsoft may be doing better with AMD.

Chalkie,

Thanks for chiming in. Much more here on yesterday's patch. Last week my wife's Lenovo Intel system was rebooting randomly losing her work, and it was Intel.

Here's the skinny on the updates yesterday. I have MS Office Outlook on all my systems:
