Dennis M
Looking for a nice park on the Oregon coast for next summer (2018), most likely June and July. Anyone have any recommendations? Barbaraok
Winchester Bay is one of our favorite places on the coast. If you are a Thousand Trails member, there are several parks along the coast, including Whalers Rest at Newport. Newport also has a public park near the aquarium. If you like to golf, there is the state park at Bandon, Ore. In fact all of the state parks are pretty good. Take your time - the Oregon coast is fantastic and well worth a month or two to explore. Kirk W
The Oregon coast has a great deal to see and experience. We spent time in several state parks in different locations. Cape Lookout was particularly nice. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... Pretty much looking for one spot for five or six weeks, although not adverse to moving around either. Just in the planning stages now. Thanks. Barbaraok
Seriously, spend a week or two and then move (either up or down) the coast. There is so much to see/do and each area is slightly different. Ray,IN
IMO the best RV resort on the OR coast is Sea Perch RV resort just South of Yahats, OR. I do agree with Barb, move oftener, there are too many things to see/do that are not within reasonable driving distance from one spot, as speed limits, tourists looking while driving causing traffic congestion really eat up driving time. 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom USQ40JD, ISC 8.3 Cummins 350, Spartan MM Chassis. cpaulsen
If you do state parks........there is a 14 day limit on camping. Also........better make reservations now.......most state parks fill up fast!!

Wholeheartedly agree with Barb. 2 weeks in one singular area is more than sufficient, but you can "easily" spend a good 3 months moving up the coast in the PNW and still leave wishing you had just a "little" more time. Not to put words in his mouth, but I think Al was asking because a month long stay in one place, let alone 2 is going to be harder to find than a squirrels acorn. Those folks up there are camping FOOLS! Most parks/campgrounds/lodges are reserved nearly a year in advance.. within hours after the yearly reservation system opens. I kid you not... they actually have "reservation parties" where a group of like minded folk gather like it's the superbowl and have a game plan in place to make calls as soon as the State reservation system opens for the upcoming year. Not that it can't be done last minute. Cancellations abound.. there are COE's, marina's, Indian casino's that can hold you between "ad-hock" stays, but you'll be extremely hard pressed to get anything more than a week or so reservation this late in the game for 2018. If your flexible and don't mind the occassional dry camp, it's doable. If your intent is to reserve and park it for the season... best bet would be to put it off until 2019. We have driven by the Sea Perch RV Park a couple of time. The ocean front sites have a fantastic view of the water, however they cost around $90/night in summer. A bit pricey! Al F
We have stayed in several of the State Parks along the coast. You may have to be careful when selecting a camping spot since you are towing with a HDT. Some of the interior roads get a little tight for really large rigs. I do note that your 5th wheel is only around 35'-38' and not 40' plus, so you may be OK. I have to admit that I really don't spend any amount of time trying to evaluate how easy/hard it may be to maneuver a HDT & trailer. It is just that many of the interior roads seem to be tight to drive & park a 38-40' Class A. Additionally there is very little overflow parking in the state parks. So if you can't get the HDT & trailer in the campsite you have a problem. Chris-n-Dennis
Just keep in mind all the others out there who have a similar idea. Spots are going to fill up fast so do the reservation thing as soon as you can. Personally, I'm not sure you can go wrong but I do recommend a mix of state and local parks. Mike and Claudia
Bullard's beach state park is at Bandon-on-the Sea, Or. and is a beautiful park. It has a wonderful, unusual lighthouse just across the river from Bandon. Also, DO NOT MISS Tillamuck where the cheese/icream factory is. We Loved Oregon, of course we are from the dry part of Texas, so it was a great difference. ENJOY!! Traveling America in "God's Grace"

colddog15
Love Oregon beaches. June and July are the busiest times of the year for the coast. There are State, Country, City, US Forest Service and BLM camp spots all up and down the coast. Investigate them all. Some of the County parks are some of the best I've been in. Be prepare for 60 degree type weather in some spots and same days. As an aside the Washington coast is also a gem worth seeing. A tad more spendy but great. Oregon is planning to do a tiered pricing system. The more popular State Parks will cost a few dollars more. https://nocommentphotography.blogspot.com/ Glen
skijlw
You are really late looking for a good park for 2018. I have been there before and it reserves up early. I was able to find a place in Seal Rock in Sept. My first choices were full. You can try a cancellation list and hope for the best. Look for larger RV parks not on the water and near one of the larger towns. You may find a spot.
Dennis M
Thanks for all the great advice guys! And you were all right about the state parks filling up fast, several of the spots we reserved were the last one or two available on those dates. We have successfully put together 48 nights in June and July in 11 different state parks with no repeats and the only backtracking is up to Ft Stephens for 6 nights and then back down to Nehalem Bay. Not too worried about access, I have squeezed the truck and trailer into some pretty tight spots in the last 10 years, including a few the park personnel did not think I could get it into!
