Foxit Reader 9.0 (PDF file reader) won't print after WIN 10 Fall Update

My Foxit Reader 9.0 will not bring up the printer dialog when I press print.  I just get the message: "The current printing driver is not available. Please reinstall this printing driver or choose other printing drivers."  I use Foxit Reader instead of Adobe for my PDF files.

Note: the printer dialog I am referring to is the same dialog which comes up when you print from most any application.  It is the dialog which allows you to select which printer you want to print to.

I am not sure if this happened when I installed WIN 10 Fall Update or when I went to Foxit 9.0.

I opened a ticket with Foxit Reader Support.  They had me uninstall Foxit, deleted the Foxit Software entries in the Registry, down load and install a fresh copy of Foxit 9.0.

That did not fix the problem.  I did update the support ticket with my results and am waiting for a response.

I did find a copy of Foxit 8.3 on my computer, installed it and it works fine now.

Anyone else experience a problem like this?

The message is what I would do, slightly modified. Delete all printers from Windown. Reinstall the printer you want to use.

If that does not fix it, you may have to wade through the registry to delete the left over phantom printer entries.

Thanks for the suggestions.  However I don't understand why I need to delete and install the hard copy printer.  The printer works with all my other applications.  Also the printer works fine with Foxit Reader 8.3.  It is just Foxit 9.0 that has the problem.   Also the problem is not that I can't print.  The problem is that Foxit will not open the dialog which allows me select which printer I want to use.  That includes virtual printers such as, "Microsoft Print to PDF, Microsoft XPS Printer, Quicken PDF printer.

The good news is that Foxit support has sent the problem on to development for testing.  This is the latest reply I received from them:

Thanks for the information. I've escalated the issue to our development team to test on latest version of win 10. Bug ID:QCPHANTOM-6175. We  will work on it and keep you informed for the update.

Nope,

Sorry Al but mine is running Foxit Version:  9.0.0.29935, and it prints fine after the update. My systems all run Windows 10 Pro except for the Voyo Mini PC. With Win 10 Pro I have had some issues when the home computer doesn't, and vice versa. I have been using FoxIt reader for ten years or so instead of anything Adobe. My first install of the fall update made several things go haywire and we did a fresh install of the OS only and all the updates which took care of the corruption it turned out to have been.

Since Windows updates caused the erratic behavior they will usually give free support. I would also have a chat with HP as their proprietary inks security, and driver checks for a compatible version of everything can also cause printing issues can cause the printer driver to reject the Windows version.

I'm still on 8.2.1.6871 and when I click on the check updates the box disappears and nothing happens.

In a google search I did find this. About the latest Stable release.  Maybe the 9. isn't stable.

On edit I downloaded the 9.0 and now the  update box is working now. Also no problem with the printing part of it.

Thanks for the info.  Glad others are not having the problem.

BTW my printer is a Brother multifunction laser printer about 3-4 years old.

I am confused about the suggestions about printers and printer drivers.  Granted the message I am getting from Foxit specifies a printer driver.  However the problem I am seeing is happening before I ever select a printer.  The error occurs when the printer dialog come up to select which printer you want to to, including virtual printers.   Also since I am back on Foxit 8.3 and it works fine it is puzzling to blame the printer driver.

Al,

My printer is a Brother laser all in one about four years old too. Mine is the DCP-7065DN. NO issues printing from my Windows systems as well as printing from out Moto cell phones.

Apparently the issuyes were enough for Microsoft to release another replacement update a couple of days ago to fix issues, go here to read up about that update I just got today here:
