By default, Firefox is set to automatically update itself but you can always do a manual update. Here's how:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu , click help Help-29 and select About Firefox.
  2. The About Mozilla Firefox window will open and Firefox will begin checking for updates and downloading them automatically.

I did that manual update as above and it only required a restart of Firefox and voila it is done. They claim faster and better but I had trouble finding my history for a second but it really is easy.

It does seem faster, but I'm not liking bookmarks yet.

FF 57.0.2 installed this morning. Two updates since the roll-out of FF Quantum, apparently the beta testers missed some bugs, oh-wait that's us. It's still better than IE explorer IMO.

While I guess they needed to go in a new direction, I won't be using the new version. I switched to opera a number of months ago. But since I use FF for one thing only, I switched back to 55 to use a specific add on. Clicked on do not update and am good to go. Use Opera for 99 % of everything else.

I'm more into Edge for speed but it is still a bit awkward. However, Edge is getting more extensions. I was IE until about six months ago. I used Opera for a bit, but not Chrome. I thought FF was really gonna come up with something radical, but it is more tepid than hot.
