mickeleit
Anyone familiar with the 2018 Cigna health insurance option for those under 65? I am a little concerned/don't understand the relationship with NY Union 713 that sponsors the plan. I hear if you have an issue, you deal with the union, not Cigna. Any feedback would be appreciated! mkc
See the other topic where Kyle provides some clarification - it's not Cigna insurance; the union just references the Cigna network of providers for deciding "in network" for the plan they offer members. Basically, you join the union (Local 713), which you can read about on their website, in order to take advantage of a health benefit they offer their members. Only you can answer, after your own due diligence, if joining this union is right for you, and if this style of health insurance makes sense to you, understanding that it is NOT one of the major insurers. After researching the union, their leadership, some history, and this offering ourselves, we are going to stick with an ACA plan for 2018 as there are too many unknowns and a few reasons to give pause for us. Your situation and risk tolerance may be completely different.
