SWharton
I created a power blip while DW was working on PC(removed a ground wire and her laptop switched to battery). The EHD didn't like it and now she can't access it. Just keeps blinking away and comes up with the message "R not accessible, parameter incorrect". I tried CHKDSK and can't access it. Device Manager doesn't recognize it. Explorer sees it but comes up with this message. Is it toast? Do you think I can send the drive out for data recovery? Chalkie
First of all.... how do you manage to post so many times at once? I am presuming by "EHD" you mean external hard drive. With that in mind here are my thoughts on a couple of things to try. Have you removed the drive from power so that it will do its own reboot? Same for the laptop? I know that sounds too basic but it is something that even pros sometimes overlook. Try a different USB port on the laptop to make sure it is not the port itself or the port drivers. You can check the device manager to see if there are any errors showing under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Try the drive on a totally different computer. We'll see if anyone else has any other ideas for you to try.
