Off Season Storage Question

We just finished our first season with our 2010 Jayco Melbourne.  We store the coach in a steel building on a local farm in PA.  One of the other RV  owners in the building had issues with mice in other off seasons.  They suggested using moth balls to keep the mice out of the coach.  They place moth balls on tires, couch, beds, counter tops, etc.  Any opinions on using this type of deterrence for mice?  Any other suggestions?

Some don't like to use them inside because of the smell when you do want to use it again.    I would use them around the outside but look for an alternative inside.  Do not leave towels, clothing, blankets or anything they can use for bedding inside.   And of course no food .     Some say dryer sheets work .  We used them the only winter we stored our motorhome, and either got lucky, or they worked.  Our motorhome was parked next to a field in the country.

We once had a mouse mother user our dryer sheets as nesting material. It seems that they do work but only if replaced frequently as the deterrent is from something given off and so the life is limited. That same thing is true for mothballs but they stink!  They also kill moths because the gas they put out is poison, just not usually concentrated enough to harm people.

I have found that the best way to keep mice out is to prevent their entry. If connected to power, pack the area around the cord with steel wool. Same for any other opening that you have which you must be able to use. Go under the RV and use expanding foam to fill all gaps around every penetration of the floor that you find.  Mice can enter an amazingly small hole.
