Refuzn-To-Grow-Up
My seat is too high for me (I am 5'8"). The seat is a National 2000 backcycler. If I air up the seat to absorb the bumps, then my feet feel like they are dangling from the seat. If I lower the seat to a comfortable level, then there is not enough air to absorb the bumps. The seat appears to be sitting on a sheet metal (box shaped) base. Does anyone know if this base can be replaced, with a lower base, to accommodate we short folks? noteven
Check at a Peterbilt dealer for a low rider kit. They should be right beside the rat fink shifter extensions. "Are we there yet?" asked no motorcycle rider, ever.

I think they put them by the Rat Fink Shifter display. beyerjf
In 40 years I have had a lot of truck seats under me. Like Jack said there is no more personal decision. I did about 1.1 million miles with the Bostrom T-915's that were OEM in this tractor. It was an ok seat, no too enthusiastic. Have had a top of the line National for the last 600,000 miles. Seat base pivot points are worn out, back cycler gave it up almost new, fabric is not all that durable and hard to clean. SSOOOOO. I just ordered a Knoedler Harrier, don't need all the bells and whistles of the Air chief. With high back, Mondura Fabric, arms and swivel($400 option) the seat is $1400 plus $200 shipping. After viewing the information on the National seat, it looks like I may be able lower my seat by removing the swivel mechanism, which I never use. Your help is sincerely appreciated. Nothing beats experience, when it comes to solving a problem. THANKS!

Pete Kildow
Know this is a older thread. If you know of a place that has lots of wrecked trucks. You can get the bottom of the seat. Most just pop in and out. Some will have a couple of screws. But most just snap in and out. We used to swap the bottom of the Pass seat out with Drivers seat. When you sit in one Thousands of miles a week. A seat does not last near as long. But also if you fix the seat where it moves. Some people will find that the ride is way better. With that Isolator locked the seat only moves up and down. But with it in float it moves forwards backwards and the ride can be better. If you look up the seats you have online. Some may well find hidden stuff on there. That will turn that seat into a enjoyable ride. Pete
