My  adult son and I will be joining some friends to explore the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway in Kentucky. We will be there the week before Thanksgiving.

I was curious if any other HDTer's have  been to this part of southeastern Kentucky, near Slade/Stanton within the Daniel Boone National Forest?

Looks like most of the travel will be on I 64, then a short stint on Bert T Combs mountain Highway.

Looks like good road all the way to the CG.

You guys should have a blast. Have you heard of the KAT (Kenucky Adventure Trail)? I think parts of it over laps some of the Daniel Boone Byway, but probably overal more challenging than the DBB. I've ridden the entire thing on my motorcycle, but jeeps do it too. There is a separate file for jeeps vs motorcycles.

I rode it before I had my HDT so wasn't paying attention to HDT access in that area. Have fun!

There's a new campground on Rt. 11 between Stanton and Slade, called 4 guys RV. www.4guysrvpark.com/  They have several sites big enough for us.

We've never gotten in to the jeep life, but the motorcycling around there is great.

Go to Miguel's for pizza, www.miguelspizza.com , and Rock House for a twist on home cook'n. http://redriverrockhouse.com/  Both on Rt. 11 near Natural Bridge SP.

Good to hear that 4 Guys is good for us, I had booked site 36 for the trip, as the sight was long enough, and is perfect angle for straight back in. Great to be able to check sights on Google Earth.

I will check out the pizza place, Red River Rock House had already made the list:)

Seems that there was a time that the Red River Gorge could be traversed by vehicle, old YouTube clips, anyone know anything about this?

68 Bronco was, and still is a fantastic offload weapon.  Coil front springs, solid axles, short wheelbase, removable top, optional V8 power, whats not to love. Did I mention a timeless body style, looks as good today as it did brand new.
