Tucsontech
We are going to do the Olympic National Park in Washington. As it is quite large we would appreciate any leads on great places to see and nice campgrounds to stay at. We appreciate any leads.
Rogerracer
Hurricane Ridge is the most visited tourist destination in WA. Don't take a trailer up there! ONP is unusual in that you can't drive through it. It has numerous entrances such as the Hoh Rain Forest. The County Park at Salt Creek is a gem. Nice RV park on the beach at La Push. Enjoy! Very much agree with both park choices! While Hurricane Ridge is worth seeing, I don't consider it anywhere near the best part of the park. Lake Crescent is a place you must see, If you can walk a bit, make sure to visit Sol Duc falls. When you reach Forks, leave US101 and go west on WA110 to La Push and see that area. There are 3 beaches worth a visit there and my favorite is Third Beach. Olympic NP is different in that it isn't all contiguous but has a big gap between the mountains and the coastal area there. A bit to the north is Lake Ozette and that area must be visited and if able, hike the 3 miles out to the coast while there. There is a small campground there if your RV is small. The Hoh Rain Forest is something to be seen also and they too have a campground. If you have the time, you need to also visit the Staircase area. The total distance involved in driving to all of those places will be between 250 & 300 miles. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... The Quiet Assassin
If you do go to the coast and pass through the town of Forks arrange to take the logging and sawmill tour. http://forkswa.com/event/logging-mill-tour/ Very informative and I think most tours are presented by retired loggers.
