j2catfish
I am starting planning on going there to check out some of the RV maunfacturers/repair places. My SIL has some repairs that need to be completed on his Open Range and we want to stay fairly close to Shipshewana, if possible. No real rush, gotta wait for the defrost. We are Passport America and C2C but any reasonable park will be OK. Thanks for the help. 2gypsies
This is a good one: http://www.elkhartcampground.com/ Also, some of the manufacturers have spots you can stay if you're taking a tour. grumpydoc
We have stayed several times at the Elkhart Campground referenced above and have found it to be very adequate for our stays in the area. There is also a nice campground in Shipshewanna(Shipshewanna South, maybe) that looks very nice although we have never stayed there. Several of our friends have stayed there and said it was a good CG. lots of interesting places to visit and good places to eat. Forks RV in Shipshewanna is now doing some service/repair work and we recommend them. Obviously we are prejudiced as they built our Continental Coach. We have also used Mor/Ryde in the past for suspension work, again we recommend them. grumpydoc
Just noticed you have a Teton. Forks RV has "adopted" the orphan Tetons and has done a lot of repair work for Teton owners. The last Teton rally was in Elkhart last fall and a number of Teton owners went over to Forks for repairs. Our previous rig was a Teton and we attended the rally which was at the Elkhart CG mentioned above. Some of the Tetoners stayed at the Shipshewanna South CG a few days before the rally and afterwards waiting for repair work at Forks, Best Wishes, Jay 2015 Continental Coach Elegance by Forks RV, 41'; 2015 FL M2 112, DD 13, by 2L Custom Trucks; Trailer Saver air hitch; '48 Navigoddess with a Rand McNally GPS
Ray,IN
Shipshewana has 2 CG's one North of town, and one South-right beside the flea market grounds. This small town offers a lot to see and do, including great Amish restaurants. 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom USQ40JD, ISC 8.3 Cummins 350, Spartan MM Chassis. teacher's pet
We stay at America's Trading Place's (Shipshewana flea market) self service campground usually for 3-4 days at least once a year. We hit the shops around the area and spend two days doing the flea market. We arrive Saturday or Sunday, since it usually fills up Monday. No amenities at all, just a good spot to park with partial or full hookups, cheaper than the other two other Rv parks and on the flea market grounds. BTW the south RV Park mentioned above is about 1/2 mile south of the flea market Map Teacher's Pet '06 40' Phaeton QSH 350 Cat. dblr
I will second the one next to the flea market, nothing specials but mostly full hook ups and pull thrus, as Teachers Pet said do not try to arrive on a Mon- Wed as they fill up for the flea market. They do have wifi but that is about all the extra they have to offer thus cheaper in cost then others in the area, good luck and enjoy. 2017 River Stone Legacy 38MB 2001 T2000 Kenworth 2009 Smart Passion ET Junior hitch
gjhunter01
We also stay next to the flea market campground during flea market season. It works great for us as the wife can walk next door to get her flea market fix and I can drive around to visit the many RV salvage/overstock stores. You can get some really good deals at the local RV stores, for example a complete door widow kit for $20 vs the $80/100 at a RV outlet. This has become a yearly summer stop for us. Camping next door also eliminates/includes the flea market $5 parking fee. Greg
j2catfish
Thanks for all the great information! I will probably schedule some repairs on my Teton with the Forks folk also. The Tetoners site had previously told me about Forks now doing some repairs on Tetons. Good to know that there are still some recommended repair places out there. Guess it wont hurt to check out the Continental Coach either. Ronbo
You can stay at the fairgrounds. Even if there is an event, the supervisor keeps some of the prime spots available for transients.
