Travelforever
We are staying right out side of Glacier right now and the Road to the Sun was opened two days ago. We drove through part of the forest on the east side that was still smoking a little. The fires seem to be completely out but they are predicting dry lightning storms today. So we will see, if no problems we plan to paddle on Mcdonald lake.
reed and elaine
We stayed the Blackfoot Nation "Chewing Blackbones RV campground and loved it. It had fallen into decline: no hookups and no dump station but it is near Babb on St Mary's Lake. Had Grizzlies wander by several times, with the Blackfeet maintenance workers riding about on ATVs with noisemakers trying to drive them off. The bears ignored them and bothered no one. Mind you, I do not chose to be on foot around Grizzie moms and cubs - or any form of Grizzlie Chewing Blackbones ishalf way between Many Glaciers and Saint Mary’s Lake (the Going to the Sun Highway) and 30 miles from the Canadian National Park that is contiguous with Glacier. Decided that we really did not want to stay in National Park since the sites are cramped, close together and noisy; and we have a 34' 5th wheel. Chewing Blackbones was a Blackfoot elder who lived to be over 100. Have a friend from Rangers who spends his summers on the Res near Babb. Babb used to have a bad reputation but we were told by two Blackfeet at the park that the bad crowd either died off or had gotten to hold to raise much hell any more.
