SIBERNUT
Saw on the net a sure fire (?) organic way to deal w/ them. Apparently uncooked grits are a food source. When they eat & go to water, basically they swell up & die. Anybody heard of or try this? 2000 Volvo 635 A/S, N-14 Cummins"The Phoenix"'03 KA 38KSWB http://s918.photobucket.com/user/sibernut/library/?sort=6&page=1Furkids- Sibe's CH. Alie&Jim's Carrilite
Yes it works on some. I used it on fire ants back in the days of owning a S&B. On the little sugar ants I put out several traps of the Terro brand stuff that has Borax in it. The Amdro fire ant killer is grits with a poison on them. Yarome
Inside I generally stir in some sugar and borax into some thick mashed potatoes. Outside... I hate putting any type of chemicals. Tossing a few little balls of peanut butter and sugar around the perimeter of a campsite generally keeps them busy long enough not be a bother. SWharton
We buy diatomaceous earth(Home Depot) and spread it around the legs, tires and electric wire. No problems since. We found a rose sprayer, held upside down, spreads the earth nicely.

Guest Caseyj
Anoter alternative is to sprinkle salt around your RV. Then when the ants go for a drink of water, move your rig.
s106300
Diatomaceous earth is a good deterrent to fleas as well. For spot treatments, Simple Green is biodegradable and very effective against many-legged critters. Pets don't like it due to the smell (oil of cloves) but it is not toxic to them. 2010 Volvo VNL 670 D13 500 HP Ishift - "THOR" 2016 DRV Elite Suites 38RSSA - "Freya" 2012 Smart For Two - "Loki" Ron & Shelley Johnston, pilots Toy, Nika, and Piranha, feline co-pilots and Demi-gods (at least if you ask them). jamarynn1
I used to be infested with those little sugar ants twice a year in my s&b. I found that spraying the area with a mixture of half ammonia and half water not only kills the ants but it disrupts their "scent trails", so the new ants don't follow the trail in. Since I clean with ammonia anyway, it's a win-win situation.
