We're not traveling this season but our daughter and her boyfriend are driving here to Minnesota from Montana for the weekend. Keep your fingers crossed, please, for no winter storms during that time.

Here's praying the weather holds for your daughter's visit.  My granddaughter and family are moving from Bakersfield CA to Raleigh NC. Yes I am very happy about this. She has finished her school...respiratory therapy...and has gotten a job at Duke Hospital. They will be traveling across country on January 6th. Pray for good weather for them.

Our daughter got here just fine and we had a wonderful visit. Actually, they are still here because North Dakota is closed so they can't go home yet. I'm glad our daughter scheduled extra time off work just in case.

I hope your granddaughter has better weather for her trip. At least yours is traveling further south so once they get over the mountains they have better odds.

ND Hiways are slowly opening but still snow/ice covered.  Not great for traveling for sure.  It takes on average 3 days to get our road opened, we are not on a major road.  I've seen it take a week to get snow-plows down our road.  More often than not, a farmer gets tired of waiting and breaks out a tractor/snow blower and does some roads around here.  Both mine broke this morning, we're going to be here a while.  Can't wait to hit the snow bird road.... darn broke-down trucks and campers.

Thanks for that update. The kids plan to leave Minneapolis Tues AM so I hope things are fairly clear by the time they get to ND. In the meantime, I sent a copy of your post to them.

Since they are over the road truck drivers they know all about finding out road and weather conditions but I appreciate your concern. Thanks again.

Hey Classmates,

As we won't be traveling anymore, we wanted to "beg" you all to come visit us in beautiful Summerland, BC.  We have a big driveway and power and water will be available.  We are in the heart of wine country and would be happy to tour you around.  So please think about it.  We miss you all.

Well, well, well .... with all the protests and rioting going on in Minneapolis I've been thinking about the Sands.  It looks like very few have been on the forum for many months.    Hope you're all safe and well.  It's already been quite a year and we aren't even half through it.  Stay safe and if the Sands are around, let us know how you're doing in Minnesota.  Miss you all.

We are in an outer ring suburb west of Minneapolis so nothing spectacular happening out here other than an occasional thunderstorm. Sure glad we no longer live within the city limits. We have lived in some neighborhoods that would not be a good place to be right now.

So glad to hear you are safe, Linda and Dave.  I sure have thought about you a lot lately.  Stay home and stay out of town then.

Thanks. As an introvert, I am good at staying home. Dave only goes out to the grocery store. We do all our socializing on line nowadays. I sure am glad our daughter and her boyfriend came to a family gathering before all this isolating hit, though.

Good to see a few people checking in to let us know they are okay. Jim and I leave Apache Junction on the 14th. Headed for Montana and some walleye fishing. Going to avoid cities and people as much as we can.

Good to see you finally heading north.

Yikes!!!!

It's been almost a year since anyone has posted. We are starting to come out of the pandemic which is good. Get your vaccine if you haven't.

We decided a year ago after spending the winter in Arizona to move from the Texas Hill Country to  southern Arizona. We didn't put the house on the market until August and closed early in October. We lived in the RV until January when we closed on our new to us house in southern Arizona. The Texas humidity and cloudy winters sealed the deal for us. No regrets on the move. We plan to stay this summer to see how hot it really gets.

For those still traveling - Travel safe!

Whereabouts in AZ? We spent one summer in Havasu while we built the house.....our conclusion? “Never Again” .  Most  places aren’t as hot as Havasu tho.    I think most of us are not on the road much anymore, hence the lack of posts.  Enjoy the new place!

I've heard the Tucson area is lovely. But, that's the place where I got the worst sunburn of my life so I'm not sure I'd want to live there. I hope wherever your version of southern Arizona is turns out to be wonderful for you.
