The Class-less Class

I do not know where you are in MO., but US-50 is a great road across Kansas so you can miss most of OK. I have tried two roads through OK that way and they are both bad bad bad. I go US-50 to Dodge City and turn south to Amarillo.

We stay at Lakewood, NM so we go to Canyon, TX. then turn right to cut across to NM. We go US-60 to Roswell and see the aliens. Then US-285 to Carlsbad. Not telling you how to go, just telling of good roads.

Lee,

If you wind up going to Forest City, the city park has a bunch of campsites and dump/water islands where you can spend a couple days testing things out. Winnebago has a small campground where you can plug in while waiting for service if you have a punch list. Service WILL knock on your door at 7 AM so plan to be up and ready by then. The dealer there, Lichtsinn sp?, has a good reputation.

Winnebago also has their own rally grounds where they host the Grand National Rally. In July, I think. Good place to go to meet other View owners and learn what mods they have done. They park all the Views together because they fit back to back in sites that would only take one of the larger Class A rigs. The rally grounds only have water at the end of the row but, when we went to the GNR, the View owners chained their hoses together down the row so anyone who wanted to could refill their tank without having to move the rig. That's also where I broke my face but that's another story.

I went to El Paso to check out that Winne View 24V. It had a cab over bed and the Camping world lowest price was 103K so that is out. The real rig looks much different than all those pretty pictures on the Net. I found that some of the fit and finish was a little on the flimsy side but generally I still like the rig and could get alone nicely in it. When I got back home the guy from Litchsinn Mtrs In Iowa called. I got a lot of my guestions answered and found out the price I read on the site was just an example showing how to use the payment calculator. The real price is $92,454 which is still way lower than Camping World. I also found that a lot of the things they list as standard are actually factory options and are just the way they ordered all their inventory but they are all included in the price so are standard with any rv you order from them. That brings it up to 77% of MSRP which still isn't bad but I know I can get it down to between 70% to 75% so will keep trying. Because most dealers don't have thier 2016 models yet there isn't much competition between dealers so I'll give it another month or so then I can play one aginst the other. I can't go anywhere any way until I get some new eyes.

Lee, I found the "new eye" store and it has some good ones. I went shopping yesterday and picked out one that "they said" would be strong enough to keep an eye on you while I would be able to continue on with life with the other one. Of course I snapped it up and so far the test drive is working great. I did hide the location in a slip of paper under the ice cream machine, so it will not be easy to fine with "old eyes"! some things you just can't change.:ph34r:

Drat, Steve got his new Eye watching me. Now when I get my new eye all I'll see is Steve watching me. I'll have to come up with a new camouflage so he can't see me watching him. Today I'll get rested up a bit then tackle that pesty spring bar and try to re-adjust it so it don't fall out when I take the tension off it. Then I'll hook up the sewer hose so it's ready to use. I won't be moving this trailer anytime soon so I'll leave it hooked up and when the sun makes it brittle I'll buy another. This one is 7 years old and still soft and flexable as a new one because I've always put it away after dumping so that it didn't lay in the sun all day. This evening is LEO. (Lets Eat Out) I've been asked to take a bunch out to the truck stop with me. That will take care of the social duties for the week. Not many of our members have toads to get out there in so I take them when I go.

Thanks for the heads up! We always appreciate knowing good routes to take since we HATE crappy roads!

We already made it to NM, but we did end up taking rte 50 over to 54 and cut south thru Liberal, KS. We were on the road reeeeeeeally early today with gusts of 55+ predicted for the PM. driver called it quits at 2 pm once the winds started really kicking up.

Tomorrow they are predicted to be just as bad if not worse so we will try to get on the road by sun up and hope to get to El Paso early.

Lee, I lied anyway. With the boat attached and driving the truck camper, we won't make it in his moms driveway so we will stay at the casino which is much closer to her house. Then she can come and get us :)

well we finally got tired of all the rain in east Texas and drove into Louisiana where we will spend a few weeks at Betty's RV Park and enjoy some Acadian hospitality...

Well, we finally got tired of all the fun things to do, nice weather and wonderful people to visit on the east coast. We're back in Washington and see nothing but lots of work ahead of us.

The biggest problem is that I was up at 2:30 and everyone else is asleep. Getting used to west coast time is going to be difficult. I wish someone would get up so I could talk about all my plans!!

I was up at 2:30 with nobody to talk to so I sat in front of the mirror to talk. The guy in the mirror fell asleep.

We had a feral cat asking for breakfast. I went out to feed it and even it left. However, it's almost 6:30 now so I guess I'm safe to start texting a couple people.

Geesh! How long are we going to be here? I tried to stay up late yesterday but that didn't work. I was beat. No mirror by a chair. I'll try that tomorrow I guess.

I don't know how long I'll be here. I have to get a cataract removed and new glasses. Then I'm dealing for a class C and if I buy it I'll have to go to Iowa to pick it up. One of the cow girls said she would take me their if I took care of the expense of getting there and back which I will. She wants to go there to visit friends and family.

Looks like a win-win for both of you! I think a class C might be perfect for you. There are definitely big advantages. No more hooking and unhooking for one.

Daughter is on her way here. Finally, someone to talk to. She sold the tent trailer she bought. They didn't use it much. Too bad 'cuz we thought we might borrow it while here. Oh well ............ I guess not now.

Betty's is on our bucket list. I thought they limited visits to less than a week. Time to be pampered.

Deal! I wondered how you'd get there and still be able to drive the thing back. Once back in Deming will you have a toad or go without like we did in our View?

I'll decide that after I've had it a while (if I get it). It may be small enough to park in most parking lots. I've been toying with the idea that maybe I sould get the minne winne 22R. It's no longer than my truck. It's not as fancy as the View but I'm not a fancy sort of guy. The one thing that would stop me is the holding tanks on the minne are a little too small. I'm putting the whole thing on the back burner for a while. After I get new eyes maybe I'll see things more clearly.

I spent most of the day shopping for a new pair of shoes. I looked at the soles of my shoes after my walk this morning to make sure I didn't have a bunch of goatheads waiting to be tracked into my rig and found holes in both shoes. I went to the only shoe store in town to look at thier New Balance shoes and every shoe in the place was 4E width. They must think everyone has a little Duck bread into them. I ended up ordering a pair online. So guess I'll have to wait a while for my new shoes.

Betty definitely doesn't put a time limit on visits. Many people go there with the intent to stay for a few days, and end up staying weeks. Some people are unimpressed, and leave early. It sure is nothing fancy. its all about Betty and the fun she creates.

The day we were arriving on our first visit, she called us at 9 AM, wanting to know where we were. We barely figured out WHO was calling, and then were very confused as to WHY. She said "C'mon!! Everyone at the RV park is goin to a party at noon. You gonna be here by then?" Before we were able to feel insulted, she made it clear we were INVITED and she wanted to make sure we got there in time. Gotta roll with it when dealing with Betty, but What a Blast!

Nope no limit at Betty's but it normally requires a reservation as she only has 17 sites... near impossible to get into to here in March as that is Mardi Gras season...

Well, I got busy and got the springbar re-adjusted and back in it's socket. Initial testing looked good. I hope it stays in the socket now. I was gasping for air pretty bad during the process but I'm back to normal again. (Oh, my I'm Normal, hope my friends don't find out) Now what do I do the rest of the day. I could have got the maintenance guy to do it for me but if It had happened out on the road, I'd had to do it myself.

I guess I'll scan the internet and collect guotes from all the dealers that have already got their 2016 model Views in. I have pleanty of time before I can leave to go get it so I'll use it to get the price down to that magic 70% of MSRP. That would cut it to about $83500. The quote I have now is $92454. (77%) The extra $9K will buy a lot of pizza. Or, I could go out and buy 25 used trailers for an average cost of $5000 each and just leave one parked in all the places I want to go. Hummmmmmmmm. How's that for thinking outside the box. I can't even see rhe box from here.

We are enjoying time in Yellowstone.. before the summer crowds. Stopped at Madison campground today and had a great visit with Randy and Liz in the bus now called Sandy ... formerly known as Bessie bus. They are camp hosts for the Summer.

The gang went out to the Luna Rosa winery tonight for wine and pizza. We had a lot of fun because of all the group that went but I wasn't impressed by the service, pizza or price. So I'll stick with Foegetaboutit Pizza in town. It was a very nice day today. Sun and clear skies all day with just enough of a breeze to keep it from getting too warm. The high was 82. If it stays clear I'll sit out behind my rig and enjoy the stars tonight.

Just think Lee, when you get your new eyes, you may not need the telescope to see the stars anymore. The telescope might be useful to find the ice cream machine.

sheeee, Don't tell Steve.

Another fine day but did get a little chilly this morning and a little too hot this afternoon. The only useful thing I did today was to take the maintenance guy to Wal Mart so he could restock his cupboards. Then took the Cowgirl next door and the maintenance guy to Forgetaboutit for dinner.
