We made it out with just a few sprinkles on the windshield, Joe.  Storm was due in about noon.   Hope you get lots of that rain in Oregon and Washington.  It is much needed due to all the wildfires.  Smoke was everywhere so we didn't complain about having to use the windshield wipers a little.

Plus, we took your route through Hwy 58.  The only thing we did different was head straight on 139 all the way to Susanville instead of going via Alturas.  I think that's what you do.  Wouldn't do that route again.  Very narrow roads that needed to be paved most of the way once we hit California.

On a permanent vacation!

That is great.  Well we have been getting lots of rain here on the coast, not sure how much has made it to the area of the fires though.

I do go through Alturas, a bit longer route, but much easier to travel on.

We have located a couple more really good places to eat out here in the general Seaside area.  Checking out another one tomorrow.  Probably a good thing we are heading back home on Friday or I would need to start thinking about getting some bigger britches.  LOL

That sounds similar to our recent Coachnet experience. The first tow truck was too small. When the second one did arrive, it took six hours to go 17 miles. The Beave is such a low rider that climbing under to disconnect the drive shaft can be a real challenge. There was some real "colorful language" emitted from under there!
The Cat shop replaced the alternator yesterday and I was told that the test drive went well. Of course, the other issues remain and I will have to find an RV repair place that can handle them. However, when I went to pick it up and started it, the Alladin system was showing that my house batteries were drawing 22 amps and I quickly shut it down. Tried to restart it and no joy. Perhaps, they were low and drawing too big a load for the new alternator to handle. It may or may not be fried...haven't heard back from the shop yet.
As a warning to you boon dockers. From what I've lately read... Run your generator for 30 to 60 minutes BEFORE starting the coach engine.  Let the generator and inverter charge up at least the coach batteries before starting the coach's engine.

Talking about the football game. I ask if they make homeruns in that game.

We remember you guys.  We remember how you ruined perfectly good maraschino cherries in moonshine.  Wow, did that stuff pack a wallop.  Travel staff.

Yesterday was our 6th anniversary of the sale of our house and going fulltime. Our fulltime days are numbered though because of the new house being built. Hope it is finished by next May.  The lot is all graded, got to resurvey for the house.

I notice there is a southward movement by a few. Guess it is that time again.

Got our flu shots on Saturday too. Have you gotten yours?

My Broncos didn't have a good game yesterday either. The season is young.

Travel safe everyone.

Do the Pats have fan clubs in most major cities like the Browns have the Browns Backers? Any place I have ever been has had a Browns Backers club that meets at a bar with a patio that shows the games. Despite the awful team the last 20 years, the fans are still rabid and those games are well attended. I have to imagine every time has displaced fans and have those clubs.

I feel like the Red Sox have that- everytime we have gone to a game outside of Boston, there were tons of fans dressed in red sweatshirts, but seems like most places love to hate the Pats so we don't see that as much.  But then, i don't pay that much attention, since i really focus on watching the game.

Congrats on the 6 years, that's a good chunk of time out seeing the country. Far more than most will ever see. Is the plan to continue having a RV after the house is finished or are you going to hang up the keys?

We are keeping the motorhome. We'll still travel some but need it for weekends at the racetrack too.

No. Don't think so Sue.

It's still baseball season and my team may make the playoffs for the first time since 2009. GO ROCKIES!!!! They have been the worst run team in the league and this may be a fluke year. I hope not.

Well, what a few days.  We made it to Yuma and are settled in at Fortuna De Oro RV park.  Huge place, but no entrance sign of any significance!   Of course we came in the wrong way and had to unhook the scout car to find out where the real entrance was!  We were given the only site in this place that had a tree blocking out satellite signal.  Arrrgghh   We finally got permission to move to another site so now all is good.  We were in sort of a hurry to get here because I broke off a tooth that was anchoring my bridge and it was a mess.  Sharp places to cut the tongue and all.  I was able to get an appointment the morning after we got here and they were able to "get er done"!  That meant dental surgery yesterday, bone grafts  and two implants put in.  Today I look like a big chipmunk, and feel like I went a couple of rounds with Mohammad Ali, but at least all the sharp places are gone.  Now I have to eat soft things for a couple of months (margaritas) while everything heals up and can get the replacement bridge installed.  I got lucky and found a dentist that would get me right in, and do me a good job too.  Dr Lemmon at Picacho dental right next to Wal-mart, if you need one for anything.  Now I think I'm going to take a steve for a while as I think the pain meds are about to kick in!!  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm glad you were able to get in quickly to start the repair. Dave has broken so many teeth he now has a container of wax to put over those sharp places until he can get in to the dentist. If this happens often to you, you might want to check with that dentist about getting some dental wax.

Sounds like a good idea Linda.  This implant thing is good, but it takes 3 months to get it all done.  I had a broken front tooth and the dentist in Oklahoma (or was it a veterinarian) started the implant process, so I had to find someone here in Yuma to finish the job.  Sigh!!

You didn't go to Algodones for the dentist?

Friday I went in for an eye exam. I've had cataract surgery on both eyes (left eye early 2011 and right eye 2 1/2 years ago). A year after my right eye surgery while playing with my puppy she stepped on my eye. My vision has slowly gone fuzzy with my right eye. Come to find out I needed a YAG laser procedure.

 https://www.webmd.com/eye-health/cataracts/ndyag-laser-posterior-capsulotomy-for-cataracts

I had both eyes done and the right eye was far worse. What a difference. Go back in a couple of weeks to check my prescription.

Jeff- Janice had to have the same procedure a couple of weeks ago and she is seeing a lot better.  She had the cataract surgery almost 2 years ago and the vision in her  left eye started getting bad first and in about 2 months it was hard for her to see. Her right eye started getting worse next and in about 3 weeks, she had problems seeing good.  Anyway after the surgeries, she can see pretty good again.

Jerry, now you can't get away with anything any more!!  Glad Janice came out with a positive change.  Eyes are a scary thing to deal with, but they sure can do a lot with them now days.

Jeff, I had part of it paid for with insurance, but I couldn't use that in Algodones!  I have had some dental done down there in the past with good results.   Steve

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, we had visitors!!  Tom & Mary Jane stopped by on their way through and we had a nice visit.  Then we went out to eat at Foothills eatery and spirits, which is just across the road from our park and found it was pretty good!  Afterwards we came back to our rig and had a rousing game of Farkle before they shoved off.  I was good to see them again as they have been close to us three or four times but we never got to hook up.  Sounds like they're still "dancing around the country" and having a great time.  Now we had to watch ball games and didn't do so good!  Oklahoma University won in a squeaker against Kansas State, but the OKC Thunder and Packers didn't fare so well.  We did all we could, but to no avail.  Nice 94 degree day in Yuma today with a slight breeze.  Oh yeah that's the forecast for the next week or so.  Hmmm  Not like Oklahoma where they had a tornado or two yesterday.  Well time to head over to the pool and see what's going on..    Steve

"&" is a special character that has its own meanings in computer languages. You can try "+" if you want since it is more likely to work.
