  1. Some of you folks thankfully have been trying to help me troubleshoot why my 2015 rooftop Dometic Heat Pump (#651816). The units fan will start but shortly after trips the breaker. I have gone through several things to try and diagnose what is causing it. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words words so a video showing testing the compressor for short to ground, replacing the breaker and testing and replacing the start and run capacitors may give you a better understanding of what I have tried. The fan and compressor relays are mounted on the control board so I can't just pull them off and just replace. I appreciate any help I can get. I am not an HVAC tech, just a home owner with enough skills to be very, very dangerous that likes to fix his own stuff and doesn't give up easily. Thanks again for any help you can provide, Mike
  2. fridge in motorhome not cooling has power to system all lights and heating up fine propane burner also works fine but not cooling no noticeable leak of amonia
  3. My four year old Dometic Rooftop Heat pump is tripping the AC breaker. I can re-set the breaker and it will stay set until the thermostat calls for either cooling or heat. Up on the roof I can see the fan does not attempt to start nor does the compressor. I hear a very faint click and then the breaker trips. The fan spins freely and I can set the thermostat to just "Fan" and that does work. I cannot smell any kind of burning nor do I see and damage to any wires. I am thinking start capacitor either fan or compressor.
  4. A law firm is going after Norcold and Dometic for RV refrigerator fires: Hagens Berman is investigating Norcold and Dometic for these companies' defective gas-absorption refrigerators that can explode or catch fire. The defective refrigerators have been installed in thousands of motorhomes, trailers, fifth-wheels and pop-ups, as well as boats. We believe Dometic and Norcold should be held responsible for this public safety hazard. The defective refrigerators jeopardize the safety of RV and boat owners and damage property. Norcold and Dometic's gas-absorption fridges contain a cooling unit with a steel boiler tube that can crack, allowing highly flammable gases – including hydrogen gas – to escape. Experts discovered that a seam in the tube corrodes relatively rapidly even as the rest of the metal appears in good condition. 5. I pulled out the bad Cooling unit the other day and discovered a lot of corrosion on the aluminum plates. The aluminum plates were pretty badly corroded, with a couple holes that go all the way through and deep crevices. I bought a new cooling unit, its in route, I want to get the fridge ready to go back together today. I took a bunch of photos before and after that you can see here http://zetal.com/98fleetwood/dometic-refrigerator.html http://zetal.com/98fleetwood/dometic-refrigerator.html
