  3. Hello, I’m hoping to get a little bit of information for financial planning purposes. My wife and I have been planning/dreaming about fulltime RVing upon my retirement for several years now (My wife is already retired, I’m quite jealous). Right now my expense spreadsheet says we will be able to retire in about 5-years, hopefully by April of 2022 or earlier. I have a good spreadsheet for living expenses and we have a solid ideal of the cost of our 5th wheel. What I would like to find out is a general cost of the RV Hauler Deck. It’s my hope that we would buy the truck and get it converted 1-2 years prior to retirement and use it for camping and road trips. I’m strongly leaning towards a Volvo 780, I will want a nice DROM box, a smart car deck using ramps and pulling winch system and storage boxes built in the sides. All LED lighting and the proper hitch for say a 22,000 lb. rig with 4-6k hitch weight. I’m not a chrome guy so it doesn’t need to be too shiny. The cost I’m trying to get info on is as follows: Singling the truck and converting exhaust to a Weed Burner And the cost of the RV Hauler Deck as described above. I’m ok with ballpark pricing say plus or minus 5/10k as I just don’t really have much of an idea for this and I’m trying to come up with a rough total cost for my rig. Another question, I have been doing quite a bit of searching for a Volvo truck and due to the fact that I’m not real confortable making a purchasing decision on the truck without some expert help does anybody know of a location or an individual, which I could hire to help with looking over and inspecting the truck with me? Or is there the equivalent of a certified system for the trucks like there is for the cars? I’m already familiar with Greg and RV Haulers and I already consider him to be an option when the time comes. I consider any feedback as useful as I have already learned so much from just reading the different blogs on this site. Thanks Kevin and Donette, patiently waiting and dreaming
  4. Truck sold! Please DELETE.
  5. Hi, New to the Forums, Looking to upgrade from F-150 and Travel Trailer to 5th wheel. Price of new trucks is ridiculous! Even used ones are going for big money unless they are high mileage or 10 years old. planning on retiring in 5 years and want to get a jump on a new unit and truck to continue traveling on our vacations. I have been researching the HDT hauler Option and it seems like a cost effective way to get a great hauler. I have searched the for sale forum as well as racing junk, truck paper etc and have only found one within 2 hours of the Hudson Valley NY where I live. It seems all the nice ones are located 3000 or more miles away! Is there anything else for sale in NY or the North East - NY, NJ, Penn, Ct, Mass? I like the Volvo's with the workstation, but could consider other options. An Automatic is a must have as wife does a lot of the driving and we both have knee problems at various times. Any leads are appreciated I would like to look local before having to fly out and find something far far away. Thank you, Matt Hudson Valley, NY
  6. For sale 2003 Volvo 610 factory singled. N14 cummins, 13 speed trans, 603560 miles. Painted 2008 white. Rear tires new around 20000 miles on them. Steer tires are I would say around 75% good. Custom steel bed, built here in ohio by All Fab Co. Bed has 4 boxes 2 each side (rhino coated 1 ft up on inside of boxes), Top of bed is rhino coated, reese hitch on rear, goose neck ball now but has the space for a rv 5th wheel hitch. LED rear and marker lights. New batteries 2015. Both front seats are air ride. Single bunk. I bought this truck from a furniture hauling company in 2008 and only have put around 25000 miles. I used it for our business and pulled a 40 ft trailer. Only reason selling this truck is I had a farm accident and can not drive it anymore. It has been kept inside and has not seen any ice or snow since 2008. Pulling the 40 ft trailer I was getting around 11 MPG. Truck is ready to go and I would not be afraid to go where ever in it. It has been a good truck for me. Asking $38900 OBO. call 740-670-4273 Gary
  7. Wife and I decided to sell our Kenworth T600. Just posted it in the Phoenix Craigslist. Truck has been a very safe, fun, and reliable hauler for us. All of the details are listed in the ad. This truck is ready to make some great memories for someone who is looking to upgrade to an HDT. It is located in Chandler, Az. Truck is available to be viewed and or test driven. Here are some interior pics,..http://s1367.photobucket.com/user/biggandmandy/library/Kenworth%20T600?sort=3&page=1
  8. 1999 Freightliner FLD120 single axle tractor. In excellent shape with very low original miles. 12.7 liter Detroit Diesel, up to date on all services. Steer tires are new, drive tires approx 35% remaining. Has commercial fifth wheel and fold away goose neck ball with all the electrical hook ups to pull anything from a commercial trailer, car hauler, or a camper. Plenty of accessories inside and out, 5' stainless steel exhaust stacks, 1000 watt inverter with two plugins, toolbox for storage or generator, bunk hardly used, aftermarket steering wheel, Eaton 9 speed manual trans, new paint, stainless steel fender covers, stainless steel wing, dual 120 gallon fuel tanks, cb radio, and new cd player. Truck recently used to haul cars, but we are getting out of the business. The mileage will change some as it will still be on the road until it is sold. Pics too big to upload here, can been seen on Craigslist @ http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5243543243.html

  10. My wife and I just took the plunge last week and purchased our first RV. It's a lovely 2015 Jayco Precept 31ul. (on a side note, it drives like a car, WOW) Anyway, I am a photographer and videographer I have no interest in spending all my time in an RV park. To that end I really would like to bring our Jeep 4 door wrangler with us. I have been quoted a couple of grand to get a Blue Ox tow bar solution that seems very well thought of and I am happy to proceed. That said I realized after a little research that if I were to purchase an 18 ft car hauler trail for about a third more, I would have the flexibility to bring the jeep or the family compact or the quads, etc depending on the trip. Other than the obvious issue of having to find a place to put the trailer once I get there, I was wondering if of you far more experience car-pullers had any insight on the ease of travel and the pros and cons of pulling vs. carrying. Thanks a million in advance! Robert
