  1. 2007 Volvo VNL 670 For Sale $32,900 Price D12 Volvo Motor Eaton 10 speed 712,930 miles Work station/ Dinette New tires New exhaust New Batteries Just serviced Very nice condition No leaks Everything works We bought this truck in California April of 2012 with 696,758 miles on it. We negotiated with the Volvo dealer to have the truck inspected by Cummins running the truck on their dyno, having all the fluids analyzed and had their top technician inspect every item and system on the truck and Volvo would repair all the issues that were found. This made the truck mechanically excellent 16,172 miles ago. Any small issues that came up since then were handled by a Volvo dealer. No one other than a Volvo dealer has ever touched this truck since we owned it. All of the smog equipment is in place and functioning. Contact- Tracy Green (925)381-0377 tgreen2348@gmail.com The truck is currently in Livingston TX

  5. Hi everybody! I'm about to retire my ford E350 SD extended van in favor of something with a sleeper etc (HDT) but I have no clue where to start. I do not know what my options are (whats smaller than an hdt?) class numbers etc, what would "average" milage be 500K?, Any advise you can offer would be great. A little background on me...played music professionally for over 30 years, construction background, I own a cbd oil business so I can work from anywhere Would like a sleeper with enough room to build a small office space, not sure about hauling a small (smart) car may just take my motorcycle Caper is a bumper pull Jayco 32 bhds, 36 foot ..around 9500lbs loaded
  6. I have had this system in my Volvo 635 for several years, and it works well. I'm considering going to a smaller screen item and wondering if there'd be any interest in my system. It's a 12" Elo monitor running off a SFF PC. I'm using CoPilot truck 9, and the big screen makes it real easy to program while driving. Big buttons, bumpy roads, old man, etc combine to make it easy to work. Any interest, pls PM me. Whole working setup maybe $125, would need an inverter to make it work. Pics available as set up in my truck, a working system.
  7. In the never ending debate between LGTs and HDTs, there was a reference some time ago to a blog by someone who experienced an absolute nightmare trying to survive a mountain grade in a pickup truck while pulling a fifth wheel. I remember they spent much of the afternoon part way down letting the brakes cool and then crept on down, finding out later that their brakes were completely destroyed. I'd like to pass this on to a newbie friend, but I haven't been able to find it, even though I've searched back over four years. I'm sure someone smarter than me can point the way.. TIA, Jay

  11. So have been towing with a Chevy 3500 Crew Cab DRW. How does a HDT back vs the one ton, with the change in position of the hitch ? I have noticed most of the hitches are farther to the rear, mine of course is right over the axle. We are looking at moving up to an HDT, and just curious as to others experiences.

  14. Anyone tow with a HDT? Going to buy our truck today and have been looking at the newer F450's. Will the F450 require bags to tow a mobile suite? I know trucks but I know nothing about diesels or HDT's. Would rather have the HDT to sit higher and all the benefits of pulling/stopping our rig but don't know anything about manufactures, milage, etc... We will be traveling rvers living full time. Thanks for any input.

    Arvey

Seems like toting Jeeps is becoming popular. I am glad we ran into an HDT in Arkansas, we were pushing the limits with our one ton Dodge. My wife Licia, myself, a dog, (Diesel), and a truck named Arvey:) will be heading to Pennsylvania, and New York, to wheel with friends, and visit the Finger Lakes area, next month.

We will be at both the ECR and the WCR so I can deliver them to you. I hate to throw them away they run about $1,100 dollars with the mounts.

  19. HI everyone! I am new to posting here. I have been doing some research at length and trying to put everything together, but I was wondering if I can get some recommendations on my specific situation! We currently tow our 41 foot fifth and a gooseneck with antique tractors with a 2004 Dodge with the cummins and six speed. While adequate power, I am growing more concerned regarding braking and suspension with each trip. Which is, of course, what prompted me to look into MDT. Our family consists of myself, my wife, a 4 year old and a one year old. Because they are still in car seats, I felt that a 4 door was necessary. ... I started my research and I really liked the SportChassis type freightliner and really liked the SportTruckRV version! I am one who wants to have power to spare, so I was specifically looking at the M2 112 version with the bigger displacement motor. However, we were not very excited about the price tags.... I am currently looking at a 2008 SportChassis with the 12 liter MBE and 35,000 miles on it and 2000 miles away from me....it looks great but ....unfortunately with a hefty price tag. Then I came across a used 2007 Volvo VNL 730 with 465 hp D12 and 580,000 miles. This was used most recently to haul grain trailers for a farm. it is 800 miles away from me. This has the sleeper, but the refrig is removed and it has been set up with 2 captains chairs sitting sideways and a dinette style table in the back. it is 1/3 the price of the SportChassis. I guess my concerns are: 1. Driving a large HDT- I have a non-commercial class A license, but without driving either MDT or HDT before, the MDT is less intimidating 2. Will it be a problem getting the car seats in and kids in the car seats, or would 4 doors be a lot better? 3. The Volvo is still a tandem....is it ok to leave it that way or will this need to be changed? 4. License/registration in PA....can it be an RV or does it have to be registered as a truck? 5. Is 580,000 miles too much and should I stay away based on that? 6. Parking when out on a trip without the fifth 7. Getting into some campgrounds...the truck is 12' tall, but the camper I guess would still be the limiting factor at 13'6" 8. Any other suggestions I am missing? I know these have probably been answered in one way or another multiple times on this great forum, but I was looking for recommendations for my situation in PA with 2 small children. Thanks in advance for all your help!
  20. I have found the perfect truck or at least I think so but it has a Eaton 10 speed manual. Low miles, clean, price, nice paint, engine, right year, long w.b. but the transmission. Currently I drive a 6-speed manual F-350 with manual so I am use to the clutch. Clearly there are more manual transmissions in HDT's than Auto's at least in the pre-2007 year HDT's. Pretty sure I understand the con's; -Shifting -Resale Are you driving a manual HDT? If so tell me about your experience.
  21. Truck sold! Please DELETE.
  22. Hi, New to the Forums, Looking to upgrade from F-150 and Travel Trailer to 5th wheel. Price of new trucks is ridiculous! Even used ones are going for big money unless they are high mileage or 10 years old. planning on retiring in 5 years and want to get a jump on a new unit and truck to continue traveling on our vacations. I have been researching the HDT hauler Option and it seems like a cost effective way to get a great hauler. I have searched the for sale forum as well as racing junk, truck paper etc and have only found one within 2 hours of the Hudson Valley NY where I live. It seems all the nice ones are located 3000 or more miles away! Is there anything else for sale in NY or the North East - NY, NJ, Penn, Ct, Mass? I like the Volvo's with the workstation, but could consider other options. An Automatic is a must have as wife does a lot of the driving and we both have knee problems at various times. Any leads are appreciated I would like to look local before having to fly out and find something far far away. Thank you, Matt Hudson Valley, NY
  23. Hi! We were wondering where your kitties ride on travel days, especially those of you with HDTs? I will be driving our chase car and Ran will be driving our Volvo 780. If you put them in the HDT, are they in their carriers? Thanks, Jo

    2017 Alaska

As most of you know, RV travel sometimes makes us change our plans and head a different direction. This has happened to us this year with our former plans of heading through Canada to Alaska, this summer. We were delayed leaving Crossville by more than 2 weeks and now, after only being in Canada 12 days we are back in the good ole' USA. We entered Canada at Sault Ste Marie and stayed at Bill and Joan Richard's Beautiful KOA in SSM, Ontario. IF you are in that area, do not miss staying with them. The city of Sault Ste Marie, ON, has tons of places to visit. We already want to return there! On the 7th of June, we headed to Thunder Bay. Stopped in a small campground at Nipigon, ON (I posted to the HDT Campgrounds) and that night the temp dropped to 32 degrees. Our Heat Pump started tripping the breaker each time it tried to start. No problem....Furnace worked great!!!! LOL Anyway, we decided we would spend the scheduled 3+ nights in Thunder Bay ( another city with lots to do) and made contact with a service center just South of Duluth, MN to get our Heat Pump checked and fixed. So THANKFUL we have an extended full service warranty on it. It will be replaced. Arrived Kerrick, MN on Sunday 12 June. Cute little campground on Oak Lake, although small the owner was right: we do fit. View of Oak Lake out our windows is GREAT, even though it's foggy, windy and 54. So, we are catching up on things that can only be handled in the USA. NOW to the real news from us: With this additional delay, we have decided to not go to Alaska this Summer. We hope and are planning on going next Summer. We will travel through Canada with limited sightseeing in Canada along the way, and spend the majority of our time in Alaska. Can you say -- a whole month in 1 area of Alaska? YEP - another relaxed way to see as much as we can see. Although, in 2014 we did cover the majority of Anchorage, Fairbanks, Seward and Chicken, there is so much more to see. So, I put up this new thread. It sounds to me like Canada and Alaska will be filled with HDTers next year!!!! Should be a FUN TIME!!!!! As soon as the work is done here, we are heading back to Canada for the Summer. I'm looking forward to a more relaxed, stay as long as we want, in more cities than we had planned for this year. We will slowly make our way from Thunder Bay West to Jasper and then Banff. Probably won't take the whole summer, so we are thinking we will cross to USA, somewhere in WA State and visit NW Washington..Whidbey Island, Olympia, etc. as time permits. We are free to do whatever until mid September when we plan to be in Denver. So, as full time HDTers, Raymond and I try to always stay flexible and not get rattled with changes. This is a wonderful adventure and we are so thankful to be able to enjoy now and for as long as we can. Safe travels to everyone and God Bless You All.
  25. CLOSED*** The smart has been sold. Thanks everyone! Tipper Silver 2009 Smart Cabriolet Brabus Edition for sale w/ blue ox base plate installation. $6500 OBO. These make a 'smart' toad on the deck of an HDT like we have or 4 wheels down behind your motor home. Excellent condition,56K miles, Nearly new condition, leather heated seats, New tires last fall and looks and drives very nice for a sub-compact. Blue Ox setup installed for a plan to use as toad or haul on the HDT which we have. Never toad 4 down yet but its' ready. We'd love to keep this right on our Volvo T.V. if we had 1 or 2 smaller dogs. In November we purchased this great smart car bundled with our "new to us" 2001 Volvo. It has traveled on our smart bed conversion on the deck of our Volvo Hauler. It won't hold our two large Shepard Mix Rescue dogs. Hmm yes our fir kids are worth the hassle to look for another car now. We're currently in the Tucson Area for another week or two before we roll out of the desert for the summer. Pictures available for you. (Our profile thumbnail shows you the 'smart' on our Volvo.
