  1. Test the plug that the converter plugs into for 120 vac Check the converter 12vdc fuses on the inverter. They should be where the 12 vdc wires come out of the inverter area. Does the unit need heat on tonight.
  2. It is a good way to learn how to repair a bad circuit board. YouTube it. See what might be involved. It could just be a bad solder joint. Apparently you know the board is bad. Look at all the solder joints. If you look at a solder joint with a magnifying glass. Look at the joint real careful. If it has a extremely small odd colored ring around the joint , in the middle or at the wire it is soldered to, it could just need to be resoldered. Just a thought
  3. I think knowing where there is a test for vision on line would be a great idea. In August 2020 I was having some odd vision problems. It was confusing at the time. I was not sure what was happening. Finally called a optometrist at Costco. I had no idea about vision problems before. Other than glasses and the normal things you hear of people experience. When I explained it to people I knew. Yea your nuts too. This was a Friday. She said come in on Monday. On my way to the optometrist on Monday, I could not see stop lights with my left eye. Nor could I see tail lights on a automobile in front of me. Finally got to see the optometrist. She looked in both eyes. She got up immediately. Left the room. She came back in with a business card that had address on it. She said they are waiting for you. Go immediately there. I walked in, told them who I was. They immediately had me in different rooms testing. Finally ophthalmologist said I am going to stick a needle in your eye. Then in a few days I want you back to repeat the same thing on your other eye. The vision in both eyes had problems that took maybe 6 weeks to develop until I seen the first ophthalmologist. I since have regained vision really well in both eyes. Still use glasses. The two different ophthalmologist i have seen are still confused as to what happened. Or will not admit it. This has been I real experience for me. Very frustrating as to not knowing what to do when I first had symptoms. I Had no idea what to do or how to explain it to doctors. I have had my normal doctor check ups every year. Take no prescription medication. February 28th I will visit my ophthalmologist or a six month check up. The one thing I can say is if you have odd problems with anything medical. Writing it down. It will keep track of what is happening. It gives the doctor a much better information to understand the situation. Not knowing it, I was describing my situation on a forum post . That was not related to anything medical. I can go back to that forum posting and see when I was first experiencing minor problems. Be safe , Vern
  4. There could be six ground wires on the engine side of the firewall. Three on each side of the engine. On the passenger side they are easy to find. I believe they are located about the bottom of the air filter for the engine. They are smaller wires, but look for them. On the drivers side I think it takes some searching for them. But I think you will find them there. I looked quick in the resource Guide. But did not see them. I believe these grounds are from inside the cab? Also they maybe a relay on the drivers side near those three ground wire studs. Just thinking
  5. The box above is hot air deflector. I thought of pulling two heat vent covers out of the ducts opening. More air flows with metal duct covers off. But then the air flows straight up. I cut a opening on each side to allow air flow out parallel to the floor. More heated air per minute of furnace run time. Gives me something to do while being stuck inside. Have good day, Vern
  6. Well extreme circumstances can make me goof up at times. Late yesterday I replaced the propane tank for the underbelly furnace. It worked till my shift was over a 9 last night. Got up for morning shift at 2:30 this am and things are working fine. I happened to apparently have taken a nap. Got awake and I noticed underneath underbelly furnace will not ignite. Go get a warm bottle of propane from neighbors shop. Take the covering off the propane bottle. Did I not tighten the hose connector fare enough. Apparently so. Tighten it in more, as in tired yesterday caused this problem. Came back in and turn the furnace on. Working fine now? My fault 1000 percent
  7. Extreme situation takes extreme thinking? But what is this?
  8. I see you are learning to think about cold weather situations. Temperatures, wind and wind direction can affect the situation. As I posted , I have learned a great deal more about winter and things that can affect your time in winter weather. The one thing about solar power in the winter you need to think about is snow covered solar panels. I would think about practicing climbing up and clearing your panels you have up there now. Just a suggestion. Is your generator gas or propane. Could your solar power, operate the heating system in cloudy weather. Also think about multiple days with clouds and snow, for boon docking.
  9. I borrowed two 20 lb propane bottles from the neighbor. Apparently they have some butane in them. Butane does not vaporize below 33 degrees, or there about. There is two 40 lb bottles for the two factory installed furnaces. The one bottle needs filled. I remove it and replace it with a 20 lb tank with some fuel in it. Go get two bottles filled, get back and now the 40 lb bottle sitting out side on a extended hose is too cold to provide sufficient propane for the furnace to operate properly? 20 lb bottle apparently has just butane in it. Go get 40 lb bottle from shop. It has not been there very long to heat up. But I installed it for the propane furnaces in the rv. Aquahot has a 55 gallon drum for fuel. it has a commercial heating tape around it. Remove heat tape and install it on exterior of propane tank sitting outside on the long hose. Wrap a foam exercise mat around heat taped propane bottle. 6:39 am Sunday morning, we are warm. All heating systems are working as designed. For now. My worst fear was losing shore power. I do have a generator, but would it operate at such low temperatures. I do have antifreeze for water lines if needed. If this is confusing, or missed spelling is a problem, I am tired, but we did more than survive. Had a few laughs. The heated shop has a unused apartment next to it , just in case we needed it.
  10. I am sitting in 71 degrees at this time. But it has taken more thinking of what I did not plan for in colddd temperatures. 20 lb bottle of propane is cold. Frost on propane line to underbelly furnace reeads -45 degrees. Turn furnace on, it ignites, run for 2 minutes or more then the flame apparently stays lit enough to register flame. But not really making regular heat? Furnace does not shutoff, but then it has full burn happening. For 2 minutes or so . Keeps repeating it???? Use hair dyer to heat propane fuel line. Still operating the same. Finally put hair dryer pointed towards the propane tank. Cover tank, regulator and hose. Go inside for 45 minutes. Turn the furnace on from inside and it works as designed. Happy now.
  11. We have a 43’ Teton fifthwheel, that has two furnaces factory installed. I also installed a Aquahot heating system in the fifthwheel. It mostly heats just the floor through out the fifthwheel. For the winter in Montana, I do have 1 1/2” styrofoam skirting under the fifthwheel. I also installed a Suburban propane furnace to heat under the fifthwheel. All is fine and dandy. I am prepared for the cold? I can tell you , I was not prepared for wind, cold and cold propane bottles. Wind at 20 miles per hour, makes -31 degree air, infiltrates those little drip vent slots on the bottom of rv windows. Really fast? Count how many your Rv has. Try plugging them with bare hand in those temperatures. Wind blows little cloth squares away from cold hands really fast. Little squares of cloth is white. Cannot see little white squares of cloth on snow. Go inside cut more little white squares out of old T-shirt. Warming hands at the same time . Air can come in those little slots really fast on the windy side of the RVs. I also noticed snow covered electrical cord is slippery as ? When you step on it in a hurry. Remember the temperature and wind is still outside. So not paying attention to all details in the area. Bad road conditions dictate when one can get bottles field with propane. Will propane getting vehicles start. First one just goes unk. Try the old trusty Jeep. Third try it starts. It’s running. Then leaving clutch out. It stalls. Now get this...... The switch with the key in it will not turn far enough to make the starter turn over. Go inside and warm up? Get hair dryers ready to go. Buy multiple hair dryers at thrift store. They quit at the worst time. Go outside and electrical cord to Jeep. Get inside, plug hair dryer in and hey, heat steering column is fun. Warm hands at same time. Finally the key will turn far enough to start Jeep. Go get ccccold propane bottles filled. Stop at neighbors shop and put cold propane bottles in heated shop to warm up.
  12. Cold temperatures makes you think of simple little things that can cause staying warm a question? Wind can cause one to think about how it can, or is affecting the RV staying warm? Several days of cold temperatures makes things happen that I did not realize, Could cause staying warm a issue. if you add cold temperatures, wind and several days of extreme conditions, you learn a lot more than I thought of. And I thought I had it covered to stay warm. With windchills at -45 and colder. Things happen quickly? And bare hands at -45 takes less than 2 minutes to get inside again, to reassessment what I am doing? At -45 propane tanks tend to not provide enough fuel to keep a furnace operating? Warming -45 degree propane tanks is a thought I did not think of how to do. Yes I did not think of that. Take cold tank to neighbors heated shop, set up on counter, for hours?
  13. I have night shift starting at 2 am tomorrow.
  14. Lessen learned to day. If the bottle get cold enough propane will not flow enough to operate a furnace, Continuously. @@ 4;17 in the am. Ooopsss So do I go out and fiddle with stuff, or turn off and on every 15 minutes? Every fifteen minutes. I figured out just the one separate tank for the underbelly heat is a problem? As soon as I can see some outside, I install a hair dryer and cover of bottle and regulator. Frost on the hose was -45 this am. Just finished putting a heat tape on main furnace bottle. -35 degree bottle does not heat up easily when in use? And it is still 29 degrees outside. Nap time now.
  15. The above post was to be posted earlier today. I borrowed two 20 lb bottles from a friend. From his grill??? The ones from the exchange ins. .??? They apparently have butane in them , About 1/4 of the volume. put a filled bottle from local supply, and underbelly system works as it should.
  16. Just put a warm 20 lb bottle on the underbelly furnace. It may still have a gas flow problem. I think it could be the regulator being coldddd. Next trip out I will try to figure out how to heat it. Or hopefully the warm propane may correct the problem. I think I am going to swop out cold tanks for warm tanks today. I need to get one small and one large one filled today. Will keep informed

  18. My two 40 lb tanks will have a heat tape on them tonight. Calling for colder temperatures tonight. The Aquahot is hooked to a heated 55 gallon tank. It has a heat tape around the tank. The tank that is a problem is covered with heavy pile of clothing. And blocked from the wind. It has been hooked up for two days in the cold. Is it empty, or close to it. I have a deer that I feed outside during the night. I do not want to meet it in the dark. So when I can see , I will change the tank. And report it temperature?
  19. I do not want the propane fittings under the rv, in a enclosed area.
  20. I have the lower furnace off for 10 + minutes. Turned it back on . It takes 2.5 minutes to run out of vapor.
  21. Kirk, I might need to correct you? When I first open the door and check. The windchill effect has to be calculated into the temperature. Yesterday it blew snow so there is either bare grass or drifts. I had to do some bare handed stuff yesterday. 4.3 minutes.
  22. We are doing good. So I am having first hand experience with propane bottle being toooo cold to vaporize the liquid in it. The underbelly furnace has just one 20 lb bottle hooked to it. I believe it runs out of vapor in about 5 minutes. Then loses ignition. Then shuts off. Tries to ignite, and lights up for say 45 seconds. Then repeats again and then again. Shut off for 5 minutes. It repeats itself every time I turn it on. I have a propane bottle in a warm shop. Will replace that tank when I can see outside. In about a hour or so. I hope I remember to test then bottle temperature before I disconnect it. Stay warm wherever you are. Or have a escape plan? Better to do both.
  23. I believe propane will not vaporize about -40. I have two 40 lb bottles on the main furnace. I installed one last night that was from inside a heated shop. I also wrapped it with foam insulation when I hooked it up before dark last night. It has operated all night. Without having trouble with vapor volume. I also have a Aquahot system in the 43’ Teton fifthwheel. It burns diesel. It hears mostly under the rv floor and the bedroom. The temperature outside now is -42 with windchill. I do have the underbelly seal with 1 1/2” styrofoam. I do have a furnace for under the rv in the enclosed area. Have to take a break. Minor problem?
