  1. And do not forget that no matter where you travel there will be days that weather is bad and you are cooped up inside all day or longer. Consider what you will do when you are ill and all of the various problems that you deal with now as all of those issues will travel with you.
  2. For many people, health insurance has become the primary consideration in choosing a domicile because the state plays a major part in available policies and premiums.
  3. Starter motors do fail and it is very common for the first indication of failure is for the starter to draw excessive current which can show up as needing to jump start. I don't recall having seen that happen with generator, but it used to be pretty common on the old P-30 motorhome chassis. My on-board generator experience has all been with Onan and I can only remember 1 starter failure in that time so if yous is an Onan, it isn't a high probability.
  4. Airstream does build a good trailer but be very careful about the amount of storage and your towing weight. As to the price, how good it is depends upon which Flying Cloud you are looking at since NADA lists them from as low as $45k to as high as $84k, depending upon which model.
  5. Welcome to the USA, early! šŸ¤¤ You may want to look at this truck advertisement from this forum. It is for a Peterbilt fifth wheel hauler.
  6. Those two facts pretty clearly point to the power from the chassis batteries as the problem, even though it may not be the fault of the batteries. Did the generator start as it should since you replaced the house batteries? If not there may be some issue with the way those batteries were connected, or some connection not properly made. Most battery level indicators are not very accurate voltmeters and some drop in voltage read as you engage the starter is quite normal. You quite likely would see some of that even with the engine running. When the engine is running there is a relay that ties the output from the alternator to the house batteries so you are basically jump-starting the generator. I would start by cleaning and checking the connections at the house batteries as that is the most easily done of the possible causes.
  7. If you are certain that you will never need to remove it, you could glue it in place. I would look for some way to prevent it turning that you can change if you should wish to remove it. If there is a mounting bracket or something near to it that you could fasten it to or even add an extra bracket.
  8. The big advantage to a travel trailer over a fifth wheel is the flat floor. Since my wife has problems with stairs, that is important.
  9. Amazon has replacement mirror glass if you know the size and dimensions.
  10. You may want to consider going to one of the states with no sales tax to replace the tires. When we had our class A, I ran Goodyear G670 tires with very good service. I am a little bit concerned about your rear tires as the Goodyear Endurance tires are designed for trailers, not a motorhome.
  11. There is probably someone who lives in nearly every size and type of RV manufactured. The question is not if it is possible to do but rather can I do so and enjoy life?
  12. While there is no indication that she has returned to see what has been posted, the DOT codes are required to be on both sides of all tires.
  13. Escapade is the largest and most extensive gathering of the Escapees community and a fantastic way to learn more about the RV lifestyle from professionals and experienced RVers. Escapade packs a wide variety of seminars, social gatherings, nightly entertainment and much more into five, fun-filled days. Though we are currently focused on planning for this year's event in Rock Springs, Wyoming, we understand that some like to plan further ahead. We are excited to share the dates and locations for each Escapade through 2022! June 21- June 26, 2020 Rock Springs, Wyoming March 20- March 26, 2021 Tucson, Arizona June 19- June 24, 2022 Lebanon, Tennessee Please note that tickets for 2021 and 2022 will not be available until 6-9 months before each year's event.
  14. While here is not usually a propane vendor who delivers to the Escapade, there is an ApriGas vender at 201 Industrial Dr. named V1 Propane and also a Flying J truck stop at the same exit and closer to I-80.
  15. It is possible that the GFCI that you found is on that same circuit as they can be wired to protect an entire circuit or they can be connected to only protect that one outlet. The best way to check is to open the problem circuit breaker and then try plugging a light into the outlets to see if they have power.
  16. The down side of that would be that you would have to rig the every time you want to use them. In some configurations it would be a real pain. Our class A had the coach batteries under the step, with access inside of the step and it wa a mid entry door.
  17. Could you just use an RV water pump with alligator clip leads? I just saw that Iā€™m not the person thinking that way.
  18. I would want to be sure that the pump is designed for potable water. Any special reason to use one that is driven by an electric drill?
  19. Yes. I went back and edited it.
  20. That all depends on who is doing it. There is no way that Pam & I would be happy for long living that way, but we do travel with a 20' travel trailer that most consider too small and we have spent as much as 5 consecutive months in it. I'm not sure of your age but most of us begin to have some agility and flexibility issues as we get older that that makes van type vehicles more challenging. All that I can tell you is that some people do spend months or even fulltime in a class B but few continue to do so when they get older.
  21. When I was a kid we thought that Dick Tracy's two way wrist radio was high tech!
  22. Since many motorhomes are not connected to supply a maintenance charge to the chassis battery you should probably start by looking for data for your coach. That connection should be fused so start by checking all of the fuses for one that is open. If you have the original manuals there should be a listing of the fuse blocks, where they are located and what each supplies. The lead to the battery should also have a blocking diode in it so that could help to identify the lead that you are looking for.
  23. It would make it easier for you if you did that. There are RV parks in both Green River and also Rock Springs. You will be receiving more information from your registration as the date gets closer to explain when to arrive and what you will need to have available. It will be mailed out to you well before the arrival date.
  24. Have you tired to get water from the faucets with the pump? When operating properly the pump turns on when pressure in the lines drop and then off when it reaches a preset pressure, usually around 45 - 50#. I it doesn't shut off it probably means that it isn't pumping water to bring the pressure up. In most cases one can hear the pump noise change as the pressure comes up and then it will stop. I am wondering if your pump has failed. If the pump is bad you can probably get a kit to rebuild it that would solve the problem. Please do keep us posted on what you find.
