  1. We volunteered there for 3 months back in 2006. It was a great experience!
  2. From everything I'm reading here, it appears they have NOT given notice...too many customers who are just finding out about their closing from discussion forums like this one. That was my feeling after reading all of these responses.
  3. We use liquid chlorine bleach...1/4 cup for every 5 gallons of fresh water capacity (including the water heater). Haven't ever had a problem with spilling it on myself. (On edit: I use the same method as Linda Sand.)
  4. We used to use placemats, but now use nothing.
  5. We used to belong to C2C and RPI. I don't recall which membership we had, but I'm pretty sure it was the Classic. When we were fulltimers, we never stayed in any one spot for 2 weeks except during the winter, when we'd land someplace for 3-4 months. And we never made reservations even 60 days out...we don't plan that far ahead. The only reason we even made reservations was that it was required, but we'd call just a few days ahead. If you think you'll want to stay in one place for 2 weeks, and you want to be able to make reservations more than 60 days in advance, then go with the Deluxe membership; otherwise, I'd stick with the Classic.
  6. So, you can't request certain locals? When we head south for the winter, we change to the Tucson locals once we hit a certain area in Nevada (we can receive Tucson locals as far north as Pioche and as far west as Pahrump). Going back north in the spring, we change to our home locals once we reach a certain area. If the app gives you locals only from your current location based on the location from the phone, that would totally screw up our system. Of course, for us, it's a moot point since we are not fulltimers any longer and have a home account, not a Dish Outdoors account, so wouldn't be able to use the app, anyway. However, I find using Chat to be quick and easy.
  7. Right. When we were still fulltimers, we kept our fifth wheel on a lot in Arizona year around for a couple of years while we traveled in a truck camper. Because the fifth wheel remained in Arizona, we licensed it in Arizona. Our truck and camper were licensed in South Dakota, our state of domicile.
  8. But then there's his swapping out of license plates on his truck! That doesn't sound "spur of the moment" to me. And, as others have asked, who carries extra license plates with him? Or were the instructions to the kid to steal plates off another vehicle? I'd sure like more details about this aspect of the story!
  9. Before spending the money on a new mattress, you might want to try out a mattress topper. We did that in our previous fifth wheel and it worked out great. We now have an air bed which we both find very comfortable.
  10. The picture/video at the top of the page is an ad and has nothing to do with the article. If you read the article and scroll down a bit, a picture of the Gem 65 8-in-1 multicooker is shown...this is the item that is the subject of the recall.
  11. This recall is for Instant Pot's Multi-cooker, NOT their electric pressure cooker.
  12. We, too, have had both Good Sam ERS and Coach Net ERS and have had excellent service from each of them. But, when our Coach Net is up for renewal later this year, I think we'll give the Escapees ERS a try.
  13. Same here when we were domiciled in Texas -- or as an answer on other forms where that, or similar, questions pop up.
  14. I wonder if someone will take over his presentations? His class and demonstration was probably one of the most valuable courses we took at an Escapade. I'd hate to see it go away!
  15. As do the other 3 credit reporting agencies. None of us have voluntarily provided them with our information. Regardless, they have it, anyway.
  16. You will not automatically be re-enrolled. From the link RV gave in his original post: "3) Clarification Regarding Automatic Sign-Up to TrustedID Premier We are not requesting consumers’ credit card information when they sign up for the free credit file monitoring and identity theft protection we are offering to all U.S. consumers. Consumers who sign up for TrustedID Premier will not be automatically enrolled or charged after the conclusion of the complimentary year of TrustedID Premier." You also will not be waiving your rights: "5) Adjusted the TrustedID Premier and Clarified Equifax.com We’ve added an FAQ to our website to confirm that enrolling in the free credit file monitoring and identity theft protection that we are offering as part of this cybersecurity incident does not waive any rights to take legal action. We removed that language from the Terms of Use on the website, www.equifaxsecurity2017.com. The Terms of Use on www.equifax.com do not apply to the TrustedID Premier product being offered to consumers as a result of the cybersecurity incident."
  17. This subject seems to come up a lot and may come up even more as the Escapees/Xscapers draw in more and more younger families. Perhaps it's time to consider a separate forum for home schooling?
  18. If you've ever had a pet and have cleaned her water bowl, the "gunk" at the bottom of the pan is biofilm.
  19. The only inspection station we've ever had fruit confiscated at is the one west of Parker at Vidal Junction. Had to give up our apples regardless of the fact that they'd been bought at the Albertson's in Blythe! The inspection station on I-10 between Quartzsite and Blythe has always waived us through as had the one on I-8 between Yuma and Winterhaven. We spend a lot of time at the Pilot Rock LTVA, going into Yuma to do grocery shopping. So of course, we come back with loads of fruits and vegetables, but we've never been questioned about what we were carrying.
  20. Probably the two biggest RV dealers in Tucson are La Mesa and Lazy Days, both at approximately Irvington and Country Club. I don't know if either carries the brands you're looking for, however. We bought the rig in my signature at La Mesa's Tucson center and had a good experience. I've also heard good things about Lazy Days, although no personal experience with them.
  21. Thanks for that information, Lou! I didn't know about this place!
  22. Oh, yes...I had completely forgotten about San Xavier del Bac! Not very far from the Casino, either...it's east on Valencia to S. Mission Road (go south) and then east on W. San Xavier Road. There'll be signs directing you, so you shouldn't miss it. http://www.sanxaviermission.org/
  23. This is a good place for boondocking, too...as long as it's not raining. Otherwise, it's a mud pit!
  24. There's lots to see and do in Tucson, but 5-6 hours isn't much time to do it in. The closest place to check out would be the western Saguaro National Park. The easiest way to get there from the Casino is to go back out to Valencia Road and head west until it ends at Ajo Highway. Turn left and go a few miles to Sandario Road. Go north on Sandario Road until you get to the park. https://www.nps.gov/sagu/index.htm There's also Pima Air & Space Museum, also on Valencia, but heading east. It's located just shortly after you cross over I-10. It's a very interesting place to visit, but you could stay all day there. However, the ticket you buy is good for an entire year (as I recall from our last visit), so if you plan on coming through this area within that time, you can make another visit. http://www.pimaair.org/ A third option would be Kitt Peak Observatory west on Ajo Highway. But it's a pretty good schlep from the casino (about 30 miles to the turn off...then you have to wind your way up the mountain to get to the observatory) and I have no idea what hours their tours are. You can find out information here: https://www.noao.edu/kpvc/
  25. We're here right now and have stayed here many times throughout the years. If you're heading west (or east) on Valencia, turn left on S. Ignacio M Baumea (there's a Shell station on the SW corner). Turn right at the first or second road into the casino property. You'll see LOTS of RVs parked in this section. Pull up a piece of pavement and enjoy!
