Newbie (1/14)

  1. In New Orleans for 6 to 8 weeks. Thought I was going to need total knee replacenets, but the surgeron believes he can clean everthing up with a scope, will find out the details Tuesday.
  2. Heading out of New Orleans Monday. But first going out tonight for some FRESH So. LA Seafood. Sunday will be going to our family's Crawfish Boil. hope to be in Myrtle Beach, SC on Wednesday for a week, any suggested sight ideas welcome, then on to Williamsburg, VA.
  3. Still in New Orleans, a lot longer than planned. Out riding my Harley on a beautiful Sat. PM. Came home to let Calvin out, tripped, fell and broke my hand. This coming Thrus-Sunday is French Quarter Fest. A great music fest, which takes up the entire Quarter, and ALL the great music is FREE.
  4. Arrived in New Orleans Monday for about a 6-8 weel stay. Parades for Mardi Gras, Saint Patricks, & St. Joseph. Anyone else in the area contact us, especially if you need assistance with the Parades etc. Both Margie & I lived here for over 60 years, and last year 2010 was the first Mardi Gras we missed in all those years.
  5. Arrived in Austin, TX this past week, currently at the Austin Lone Star RV Resort on S. IH-35 MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.
  6. We are enjoying ourselves @ Town & Country RV Park, Palmer, AK. Plenty of space, in fact NO FireDog is parked in front of the trailer. One of the very few RV Parks, where you can wash both of your rigs, in AK without a problem. Will be here at least till Friday, waiting on some parts, before we move on to Valdez.
  7. We will be in Quartsite starting Sunday. I'm looking for transportation to Phoenix, AZ the morning of the 23rd, then return to Quartsite on the 29th. I will be going to he Airport then returning. Willing to pay someone for the ride. Please PM me if you can assist.
  8. We are also in Tucson @ Justin's diamond "J' till Friday, then heading to Quartsite.
  9. Margie, Calvin and I are back from a run from St. Louis, Toledo, Dearborn, MI, Frankenmuth, MI, Mackinac Island, Green Bay, Milwaukee (Harley Museum), Oskash, Madison, retirning to Muskogee. We traveled over 3,600 miles in 6 weeks, nice and easy. Here in Muskogee we are in Meadowbrook CC about 1 mile from downtown, not fancy, but at $240.00/mo with full hook-ups, including 50 amps. Will be here till 9-23 when we fly to Frisco to board a hip for a 30 cruise thru out the S. Pacific landing in Sydney, then 30 days in Australia, doing as much as possible, including diving the Great Barrier Reef. Getting paid to train chef as we play onboard a cruise, what a life.............
  10. We have traveled a few hundred miles North to Muskogee, OK to get a little releaf from the heat. Right off Hwy 69 south of town. Only one problem, man it is HOT, upwards to 104. Leaving in a few weeks heading for Green Bay for a buddy's 40th Wedding Annv. Then heading back down south to look for a place to park the Firedog, Trailer and kennel Calvin for seven weeks while Margie and I leave San Fransico 9-23 for a working cruise for a 30 trip to the S. Pacific, then Australia, remaining there for another 3 weeks. We had planned to leave everything at a friends home in Denver City, TX, but last week he was involved in a horrible truck accident, killin him instantly. A terrible loss of a very good person.
  11. We are still in South LA and found a beautiful place to use as our Base. Cypress Bayou Casino, Charenton, LA 70523, 800-284-4386 It has BIG pull thru’s that are long enough for our 68’ with a 5' space between the 5th wheel and Firedog. Plenty of room for all of our equipment, including the 2 Motorcycles. Downside: Very few trees, no bath house, washer/dryer or pool. Upside: Big spaces all with 30/50 amp power. Very nice rubber coated table, 4 benches. All of the campers in this area are very nice. They pass daily to clean and empty sites animal puff can. Plenty of power & water pressure for any rig. Wonderful restaurants, everything from a great hot dog/ chili, cheese, onions, the works with a cold drink, including a cold beer for a whopping $2.00 to the finest steakhouse I have ever eaten in, dinner for 4 with wine including tip for under $250.00. While speaking of food they also have a fabulous Seafood, Mexican, Oriental Restaurants all on property, starting service at 8 AM till at least 10PM daily, later on weekends. ALL BREADS, including the hotdog buns, pies, cakes and pastries are made right here on property. All of this for only $10.00/day, plus every 3 days starting with day one, you each receive a $10.00 credit on your club card for gaming. So, yes this breaks down to $3.33/ day after you figure in the credit. Pets are more than welcome. When you call to make your reservation, 800-284-4386, they assign you your sight number. After you pull-in, you can take your time hooking everything up, then call the parking shuttle, 800-284-4386, they come pick you up, take you to the casino to check in. The shuttle is always available to take you back or forth, even thou you are about a 5 min. stroll from the Casino. We, as most of you know are from S. LA and meet at the University, right down the road, but have spent 3 weeks going to points of interest in the area. Most of these things are fee. To say the least we are loving this life-style.
  12. We have been busy with Medical tests. Friday I'm having an angiogram, maybe we can get together saturday. cell 469-579-8471. Or PM me
  13. We are in New Orleans, LA. Jack we finally have the amplifier and antenna installed correctly, and it is great. Henry, I'm not sure if you received my email, about the light on the rear of your cab, if not I will resend. Margie and I really enjoyed Mardi Gras, for the last time for a while. After we are finished here with Dr. appointments and parades, we are heading west, then North to Alaska, maybe by next summer. We love this retirement thing, we were in FL for over 5 months.
  14. 75.6 degrees. Hell the heat index yesterday here in N O was 122 degrees. 75 degrees is like a cool fall day here. We were lucky today it was only 106 degrees. August in N O is ALLWAYS on the warm side.
  15. Pam, We have Parades this weekend in New Orleans, for St. Patrick Day, try to make it. Michael eventschef1@yahoo.com
