  1. All the LTVAs have dumpsters, but La Posa South is the only one in Quartzsite that has a dump station & water. The water & dump station is about 2 miles from the entrance.
  2. I also have a Garmin 890 on the left side of the steering wheel. It might get in the way with a smaller vehicle, but works fine with an F150. The 890 has built in WiFi so you do not need a computer to do updates. You can even use the built in browser as long as you have a WiFi source. I'd include a photo of the dash placement, but I can no longer add images.
  3. No problem getting to the site with Safari, but it notes all sites are filled. If it is anything like previous years, most of the sites are booked the day they open, although they have a wait list.
  4. While I haven't used them, others have suggested R&B Septic Services, 1360 North Moon Mountain Avenue Quartzsite, Arizona 85346, 928-927-3887. I have seen other trucks moving through the LTVAs.
  5. I switched from a Victron 100/30 solar controller to a 100/50, and my phone no longer would connect to the controller from the truck. It appears the newer Bluetooth transmitter used by Victron is weaker than the old. I added a Victron VE Direct Dongle, and things are back to normal, ie 30' - 40' range.
  6. I believe the Houghton ACs sold & installed by RecPro are made in Australia, although a modified version using 120V (Australia uses 240V). By the way, if you are replacing a Dometic AC that uses a combined AC & furnace thermostat, you will need to change the thermostat - the Houghton had the temperature controls on the AC and is not compatible with the electronics used by Dometic.
  7. While each state has its rules, when I moved from Washington state to New York, when registering my vehicle they charged me the difference between the two state's sales tax.
  8. Or, if you want to add Bluetooth & WiFi, check out a Hutch Mountain Micro Air EasyTouch RV 357. They make a number of different models so be sure to use the menu to find the correct one.
  9. I guess they also make good tow vehicles for trailers. I watched a Tesla sedan pulling a 25' Airstream out of the campground. They hauled it to & from London Ontario to Niagara Falls. The Tesla was outfitted by Can-Am RV...
  10. I don't give them a credit card - they bill me (although they first tell me the deal is only available with a card). I do have to call every 6 months and threaten to drop the service. Somehow they always "find" a new & different $5.00 promotion for the next 6 months...
  11. I don't know how much classical you listen to, but it is pretty obvious. Might not be as much a problem on other types of music. My experience is based on I teaching sound design for 32 years, designed theatre sound systems and designing the sound for many musicals.
  12. I have it in the truck & trailer, however the only time I use it is when I can't get a FM radio reception (usually NPR stations) or can't connect on line to an internet radio station. I agree that the compression is terrible, however since I mostly listen to voice, it is do able... If I had to pay more than $5.00 per month for each radio, I'd drop it.
  13. I have a Garmin 890, which is a modified Android tablet that can be set for car or RV - You add the specs for your RV. No problems other than here in the East is is almost always warning me that there is a sharp curve ahead...
  14. In most cases, plugging in to the 120V output & using your converter will charge much faster.
  15. I just finished The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home, by Joseph Fink. An interesting read for those that enjoy the combination of a ghost story & history. " A funny, terrifying, and unpredictable slice of Night Vale's macabre history." — Kirkus Reviews (starred review)"
  16. I had no problem moving my Mobley SIM to a Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 cell router. There are newer versions that should work as well. I did get the PUK codes from AT&T
  17. A Sensor Push module(s) combined with their WiFi Gateway would do the trick. I use 4 Sensor Push modules to monitor freezer, refrigerator, outside & my medicine storage box using Bluetooth; I haven't added the Gateway. On an iPhone you can see current, hourly, daily, weekly monthly or yearly temperatures & humidity. The data can also be dumped to a spreadsheet.
  18. Check out Croton Point County Park. While it is 30 miles from the city, the railroad station is within walking distance (1.7 miles) (or a 2.7 mile drive).
  19. Check with a local Walgreens. Ours here in upstate NY will do either Rapid (ID Now) test which is not on the Canada acceptable list or the PCR which is for free. One problem - the typical results of the PCR test is 2-3 days, and Canada wants the test within 3 days of entry...
  20. I have an 8000 BTU Midea window AC in my bedroom. Probably would not work well for an RV since it is sorta a mini split and would be difficult to install in a typical RV window. The window closes through the middle of it, leaving the compressor outside. Very quiet, inverter technology, and cools the bedroom fine.
  21. In 2012 I stayed at the Trail of Tears State Park in MO, and they had GFCI breakers on all (15, 30, & 50 amp) receptacles. Don't remember the name, but on another MO state park stop a few years later I found the same.
  22. I attempted to post a image & evidently I'm at 100% of my attachment quota: "You have used 995.62 kB of your 1000 kB attachment limit".  How do I get rid of older unused attachments?

    Thanks

    Jon

  23. A couple of stops for photographers in the area are Mule Canyon off UT 95 for the "House on Fire" ruin, and Cigarette Springs Road off UT 261 above the Moki Dugway for a hike to "Fallen Roof Ruin". Both are reasonable hikes (Fallen Roof is a bit more difficult, at least at the start, and finding the ruin), and well worth it.
  24. Just finished All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr & highly recommend it. As to Lee Child fans that have Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, check out the Mark Dawson John Milton series. Not quite up to Lee Child, but pretty good & free. For those interested in the Southwest, I enjoyed both The Monkey Wrench Gang & Desert Solitudes by Edward Abbey. Since giving up TV, I read over 200 books per year & at least 100 audio books checked out from the library. The NYC library is open to any resident of New York State, and has a huge collection of books, both audio & standard.
  25. I have no idea where they measured for Denali National Park, but at the Teklanika campground there was no cell service of any kind.
