Thanks for the link to the company in AZ, looks interesting. We will definitely post any progress we make with this idea or any experiences we have, although it won't be for a while as sadly we're not allowed into the States just now!

I think the problem with some of the companies mentioned above is that you have to be there to walk the renters through the RV, whereas we won't be in the country so need someone to do that for us. I appreciate the warnings against renting out, but that's what insurance is for and it's much like Air BNB, which I've been involved in for a while with no problems.

Can anyone recommend a good rental management company in the Arizona/Nevada/Utah area? We are buying an RV next year but live in the UK and would like to rent it out when not using it. Thanks!

The reason we want somewhere to do the prep for us is that we are flying over from the UK each time, so don't want to be spending precious vacation time doing that! We've managed to find a storage place in St George that does it, so think that might be best option (cheaper than Vegas, even with the cost of rental car to get there).

We have seen quite a few advertised with concierge service, but just want to get recommendations from people who have actually used them. What is basically means is that they fill tanks/charge batteries etc ready for you picking up.

Can anyone recommend a good storage facility near Vegas or St George area? Must be secure, not too expensive and if possible we would like a concierge service, so they can prep the RV for when we pick up (inside or covered preferred). Any storage tips welcome too! Thanks

Looks like an interesting place to spend time. We're over on the east coast, in Carnoustie (famous for golf) and near St Andrews.

Thanks for that suggestion Kirk, that's what we're hoping to do. We'd like to store it in the same place I think for first year or so, then start leaving it in different places. Think we'd like to explore more of Southern Utah to begin with, as we love it there. Glad you enjoyed your time in Scotland, hope you make it back here some day!

Good idea about Phoenix, LA I think is too far away from the places we want to visit regularly.

Great, thanks. We'll probably be looking to store near either Las Vegas or San Francisco as they're the cheapest places to fly to from Scotland (and good starting off points for the areas we love).

When storing an RV between uses, does it have to be stored in the state it is registered in or can it be stored in any state? Thanks!

Sales tax is not a problem as the dealer we're buying from has already said if we buy from him (in NV) and register it in another state then he won't charge us tax.

We are from Scotland and looking to buy an RV in the States to use as a holiday home. Can anyone tell us how the road tax/vehicle license fees work in the States? Is there an annual fee to pay to keep your RV on the road and does it vary from state to state. We will be buying a 30ft C class, probably 4-5 years old. Thanks very much!

Thanks for all the updated ideas on a walk around bed, sounds like that's the way to go! Lou-thanks for heads up on overhand. Strangely the overhang on the 30ft is the same as that on the 25ft we have been looking at (the extra 5ft is between the wheels) so not too bad.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I know 5 feet is not much of a difference, I guess we're just worried incase any of the National Parks we would like to visit have size restrictions. We'll be using it for a few vacations a year (coming over from Scotland, where we are from) so will not need a lot of storage room as we won't be full time RVing. I think what appeals to us about the 30ft is that it has a separate bedroom at the back with a bed we can walk around. Lots of good ideas above to keep our minds thinking!

Thanks for that. Yes part of the reason that the Cruise America package is attractive to us is that it includes a warranty. I notice that your friends bought from Cruise America-can I ask which size as we're trying to decide whether to go for the C25 or C30. Thanks

Thanks for the helpful replies. We are likely to be in the West/mid West most (Arizona, Utah, Nevada most I would think). We have read hours worth of pros and cons regarding buying ex rentals and feel we are confident that Cruise America offer the best deal for what we are looking for and for our budget, but thanks for the warnings. At least with an ex rental there is a paper trail of servicing etc, which you won't always get with a private buy.

This is our first post here. We live in Scotland but rent an RV in the States every year (have done for past 7 years) and would like to buy one to keep in the States and use as a holiday home. We are going to buy an ex rental from Cruise America but are not sure whether to buy in USA or Canada (from Cruise Canada). Does anyone know of the tax/licence fee advantages/disadvantages of both? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
