Hello to everyone out there, I hope this finds those reading this safe and well.
I became homeless almost a year ago, and discovered my SSI wasn’t enough to live on with the cost of rent. So in an effort to have my own place off of the streets or rather out of living in my car I decided to build a stealth RV out of an older uhaul box truck. After four back surgeries I can no longer work, but still I want to be a productive member of society. Hence the uhaul to live in and to be used to help other homeless individuals.
With my background in construction, and automotive restoration I’ve designed what will be my new home. Here is my issue. Since I will be boon docking most of the time I’m looking for a design to meet my electrical needs. Here is what I’m doing, so any suggestions would bee great.
I’ll be installing a MPP LV2424 solar inverter/charger
3-260watt solar panels
a 24v lifepo4 100ah battery to start then upgrade as I can to a total of 300ah
i upgraded my alternator to 130A
i plan on being setup to get shore power, solar power, and at this time using my alternator output to charge the batteries when solar or shore power aren’t feasible.
My problem is setting up the best way to setup switching from the MPP to charging from my alternator when my vehicle needs to be used, or if feasible using both combined to reduce charging time
I could use a contactor that runs when the engine is running as I already have a renogy dc to dc Charger. I plan on getting a step up transformer to go from 12vdc to 24vdc. That part is easy based on the engine running, but if it’s feasible to use solar and the alternator combined how to do that
So with all that said I’m looking for solutions to accomplish my goal.
