  1. Yes, I discussed that with a dealer recently. But.... still does not change the weight. Too heavy for my truck is still too heavy. Also doesn't come into play if buying used. I'm personally looking to find one pre-covid.
  2. I looked at both mentioned RVs specs. I have a won-ton dually, both those are heavier than what I'm rated for. I don't see a won-ton single rear tire pulling those safely. For one person, that's a huge camper, even living in it, IMHO. I'm looking hard at GD toy haulers like the 350/351 Momentum for 2 of us along with a couple pets and an HD Tri-glide. Even those push my limits, I'd need to watch it going up/down sharp grades. I plan on installing elec. over hydraulic disk brakes on what we end up with just to be safe. Being 44-46ft rvs mentioned, might limit campgrounds/resorts availability. Honestly IMHO, if I went with an RV as big/heavy as those 2, I'd be thinking hard about selling my truck and purchasing an HDT to pull those monsters.
  3. Welp, it's been a fun learning experience for sure. Joined a club, have been to a few star parties, and now on our 3rd scope. With our wind here, we would up with a pretty solid set-up, went with a CPC800. It's a heavy bugger but the wind does not blow this one around. Then wanted an accessory to go with it, then another, then some eye pieces, then a couple cameras and a hyperstar, then..... and more.... and yet more...... holly mackerel did this hobby get seriously expensive. And I'm no where close to you Vladimir!! I think I put the jinx on hard, that is buy a scope/accessory and it gets cloudy.... this whole summer has been horrible! Smoke so bad I can't breath well, eyes burning all summer, back of throat feels like it's been coated in tar... gotta love it. I think I'll quit buying stuff for the scope and maybe the jinx will go away.
  4. Good luck finding one that fits you for a reasonable price. Seems covid drove prices up. Folks selling have paid too much and think they are sitting on a gold mine. We've been looking for a couple years since ours got destroyed by momma nature. For now, we are limiting our trips and flying or taking the train and staying in 4-5 star hotels. Overall, for a yearly period, cost has not been outrageous. I hate flying over places I would normally spend time visiting/enjoying but at this time, it's what we have. We will continue to shop around but we are being picky.
  5. That was/is a severely wrong idea, at least for us!!! When we retired, we bought a country home/small hobby farm so we could slow down and take life easy.... I have in my entire life never worked so long and hard in my life!! While we do love it... it's wearing thin... and got very expensive.
  6. Ok, guess my confusion comes from TT site that says: Five Regions With Over 200 RV Resorts & Campgrounds https://thousandtrails.com/membership-info Could not find platinum mentioned.
  7. These are set up in zones? Which zone? And my comment was meant to be a funny answer to dan's post.. LOL I would be interested if my camper had not been totaled out. But, I will ask, what are the transfer fees, zones, etc?
  8. Yup, and I still have that tiny truck. Wish mother nature would not have destroyed that camper.
  9. I saw a 2500 RAM pulling what looked to be atleast 42ft Momentum at a rest stop in the mountains once. I struck up a conversation with him about the camper. I eventually asked how that truck handled the weight, he said the trucks modified to handle it. I left that alone pointing out my rig then asked him, when he see's it, please stay very far away from it, I don't want to be involved in his crash. He just stormed off... never did see him or his rig again, thank goodness!!! This is an old pic I took a few ... years back. Towing with a 2500, atleast to me be like... :
  10. I'm hoping this is just a prankster stirring the pot. Please tell me no one would do this.
  11. For a 5th wheel, I'm looking at Grand Design, with a couple Forest Rivers. I prefer the build/quality of GD best. But, saying that, I'm also looking at Motorhomes and pulling a cargo trailer.
  12. Lucky you! I've got a Tri-Glide but my wife refuses to travel on it very far. I'd love too. But she loves day rides so we are looking at toy-haulers again. Yes, hotels have gone nuts in price, but campgrounds have also shot up. We have found for only a couple trips a year, it's less expensive to fly or go by train, stay in hotel and sometimes rent a car. We had a nice camper but, it was one I would call short stay, would not have been a full timer in it. If your not going to spend more than short trips while camping, the cheap camper would be an option. Like said, well built/(semi-)fancy campers are as much as what we paid for our home 12yrs ago. It's crazy what the pandemic did to prices of just about everything. Good luck with your choices.
  13. As a truck driver you should have no problem going there to pick it up. Just watch the weather, it can change in a heart beat. I say that because I live in the adjoining state and experience it personally. I'm also a retired truck driver, I do know how the road conditions in our area can do a 180 in a blink of an eye here. The above remarks you made just leaves me a little curious. Bozeman, and the only military base in Great Falls, are 177 miles apart. That leaves me to wonder..?? Have they left it at a dealership for them to sale? If so, would not that dealership store it for you? But you said you did your due diligence in checking this out. I hope it's not a scam. If they are in Bozeman area, the only thing I can think of is they are there pulling recruiter duty?
  14. I'm just curious. Have you paid for it yet? I had a scammer try to take me from same area a couple years back. Told them I would pay after I showed up to see it in person, all of a sudden it was stored at another base. When I told them no problem, I have friends stationed there and they could go see it first. As quick as they could, they e-mailed me back saying it was being moved to another storage facility at another location. Told me where, then I told them no problem, I can easily get there to check it out. With some nasty replies from them, they disappeared. My point is, have you or a friend actually inspected said camper? I would not worry if it was from one of the dealerships there but..... If it's real, maybe contact one of the dealerships there, maybe for a fee they can inspect it, pick it up and store it there for you. I've driven through that area a few times this time of the year, I would not chance going there/picking it up. IMHO
  15. Good idea, there's a Carmax right across from the stealership, I'll have to stop in there. Momma nature is trying to give us a shove south... LOL This morn it was -20 again... now it's warmed up to -18. We were floating around +15-20 for a while, now she has to kick us in the shins again.... gotta love it... NOT My sis is funny, she is constantly telling me she's cold, it's 60f in FL... Me, at 60f, I'm riding my motorcycle in that heat!
  16. Congrats! We love the Grand Design RVs. Thought about getting that model until we decided to go another direction, toy-hauler with room for a Tri-Glide and alot of telescope and accessories.
  17. I don't believe NADA books are available any longer, I used to buy one before doing any vehicle purchasing. Can't find one beyond 2019 now, that's about the time they were bought out by Powers. They have always been a dealers low-ball value, proved that in the past but now... NADA is gone. While it will come up in a search, it pops you straight to the Powers web site. I figured out KBB somewhat but it would not let me put any add-ons in for pricing. Dealerships will always use the lowest price which ever site comes back with it... but they are in in for their $, can't blame them for that but..... at same time I will protect my investment. I'm going to go talk to my bank about pricing and see if they will say what they now use. Used to be most every loan officer had the little yellow book on hand. I'm not going to let the stealership purchase my truck for a lowball price, First few days next week I will give them one last shot as they are always calling because they know I'm interested in selling. I just wanted a print-out of my trucks value like I used to be able to obtain. The last time I was there, they came running out saying this (paper in hand) is the recent value for my truck. It did not even show the factory DRW or camper/tow set-up along with a few other factory extras installed past stock truck. If they don't meet my price, we have a decision to make. Either keep truck to use around here and buy a motor-home, or use truck and purchase a 5th wheel. I'm looking at 2 MHs, but also found a Momentum 320 we like sooo.... soon maybe another RV. One way or another, we are NOT going to experience a month of daytime highs of minus 20..... not gonna happen..... NOT Past 2 winters I fell on ice 3 times flat on my back. I now have shoulder/neck pain, left hip and left knee always some level of pain, sometimes excruciating. This is the reason I seriously need to leave during the winters. I'm tired of hurting so one way or another..... not a single winter here again... darn ice..... Getting older stinx!
  18. Nor would they let me select an option for DRW. Got the KBB site to give me a value but the NADA site goes straight to JD Powers which seriously undervalues vehicles and won't let you add the value of DRW. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll get it figured out.
  19. I used to use NADA Guides to value vehicles/boats/campers, etc. I see NADA was purchased by JD Powers and no longer exists. I went to KBB's site, can't get a price, never been a fan of their service probably due to I can never get it to give me a price, seems like it only want's to act like an internet car sales service. How can I now find a vehicles price? I have even googled the intra net looking for trucks set up like mine, seems like low mile duallys are just about non-existent. The only ones I could find had 200-500,000 miles, most with silly prices. I can find on the powers website a price for a similar vehicle's price, but refuses to let me add the dually option which was a 10k add on. Before NADA died from the take-over, my truck was priced at $55,500 but now the only value I can get is low 40s because none allow the dually accessory option. Dealers are making low-ball offers based on JD Powers comercial side not showing any DRW add-ons. I'm almost to the point of purchasing a motor-home and shoving this truck along the fence row, I would rather let it rot than let stealerships steal this truck from me. Does anyone know where/how to get a real world value on vehicles? Sorry for the rant but if someone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
  20. Cool, thanks for all the replies. I've been e-mailing/talking to the salesman today. I've gotten some info, asked for more and have told him my price. He said they would actually trade my 3500 DRW in on it so I gave him a price. I doubt he pays what I want, but I've never paid anyone their asking price either so time will tell. There's a couple more RVs we're looking at if they won't deal but he sounded interested. Time will tell, sure be nice to get back into an RV again. This time.... I won't park under a tree on my place during an ice storm... LOL
  21. 🙂 Guess I should have said it differently. Would only tow the trailer or toad, one at a time. I would never attempt to tow both at same time.
  22. I'm looking at a used Newmar Baystar with V10 Ford engine (~40k miles). Anyone have experience with them? For snowbirds and week-long outings, is this a good MH in y'alls experience? Any inherent problems I should look at with these RVs? I will be towing a ~20ft cargo trailer with HD Tri-Glide and lots of sky-watching equipment. May eventually have a Toad behind it, depending on where/when we go on our outings.
  23. I just bought an ipad pro with 1 TB. The price on that thing is through the roof! Sure wish prices on those were falling!
  24. Sounds like it won't be a problem most the time, cool. Thanks for the replies. Now to find another RV. Watching craig's lists and RVTrader, we're not having much luck finding within 500 miles of us. Might be possible when the snow stops sometime around may/june. Doing most my searches for a (used) Momentum 5th wheel but a class A is still an option. We'll be hauling our Tri-Glide and astronomy gear/scopes with us so toy hauler/trailer with ramp is required. This is why we will be mostly boon-docking, to stay away from light pollution.
