    heated area

Glenn, Seems you are never 'out of the planning mode' 🙂 The MH we got used 6 months ago has the wet bay heated w/thermostat. Not sure about rest of the storage areas, but believe they are also. The is an all-electric unit, with diesel Aqua-Hot for heat source when needed. As to the battery sections, don't think they are heated and have some openings to outside for venting. If on shore power, would not be hard to have a small space heater in compartment, since no fumes present? Also, don't some Li batteries come with a heat source built in, or am I confusing that with a BMS that precludes charging when below freezing? Joe

    Enough Power

ejm, Having just changed from a 6.7 450/Suites @ 21000, you will find any MH a way different animal at acceleration--have a 380hp now that that only slowly gathers speed from a dead stop. However, it cruises easily at 60-65, just doesn't get to that speed as fast. I am a fan of HP (more the better) but 380 does ok. Personally would look for 375-400 model if possible. As mentioned, probably lot more time spent living in it than driving it...
  4. I took the tests about a year ago in Livingston, TX...the DMV is pretty familiar with the process due to the Escapees HQ nearby. Decently easy written, and not much to the driving part. The link above is right on. Having talked to several in the Austin DMV, either an A or a B will work for a heavy MH or truck/trailer, not sure they know which is which.
  5. I would think only going to a lesser capacity tire than was specced by the mfg would be a problem, not upsizing.
  6. Should have said Schwintek not a leveling system? Only a slide system?
  7. Don't believe a Schwintek slide mechanism has any relationship to either the LCI or HWH leveling systems. We have had both manual and auto LCI hydraulic systems and both worked fine if I operated them correctly.
  8. We are scheduled in CO SP for 3 months, just waiting for opening. Possibly they will be letting the hosts arrive before CG is open, not too sure yet. But then CO just extended the opening date to 'indefinite.' So, don't know where we'll go when space rent is up late May. If we do get to host, not really worried about risks--made it so far and been working at "essential job" that doesn't allow for 'social distancing'
  9. Colaw in Carthage, MO, another place to try.
  10. FWIW--been staying near Huntsville, TX, for last 7 weeks working--most of the 'average' RV parks are filled with pipeline/powerline workers. Hard to find an extended stay site. If you are looking for an inexpensive, but basic campground, check out https://cedaroaksrvcamp.com/ No restrooms/laundry/showers, but lonnnggg pull-thrus and plenty of space between sites, probably 150 sites. Owners on site, friendly, helpful. CG is clean, full hookups, electricity included, 50/30amp/ good water pressure. Lots of sites available. No cement slabs, but fairly compacted gravel sites. On Hwy 19 about 10 miles NE of Huntsville. Quiet place. This is no KOA resort, but if you need to be within 40 miles of Houston, this will work. Just thought I'd mention it.
  11. Try this website: https://hancousa.com/storefrontCommerce/itemDetail.do?itm_id=7133&itm_index=75&orderQty=1&cust_item=TPMVS-920&whs_id=1&orderUom=EA Might have to call them to explain what you need. Also, just check at another Loves for the stems. Joe
  12. Unless you are unusually unlucky, the 'fail-safe' valve will not come loose. Have traveled 1000's of miles with one on the end of my drain pipe on the Suites, never moved. It will not, however, survive hitting a tree stump....
  13. Did you go thru with the DRV purchase? If not, sent you a private message.
  14. Kirk, Coach Specialists list only a 'Drop-Off' place in Waco--not sure what that means--phone # is the Mansfield shop. The shops are in Mansfield and Plano, was just at the Mansfield shop looking at a MH for sale.
  15. Both my DL and CCL are the Escapees mailbox number w/street address in TX. Have had no problem with these for any purpose, including firearms. Was thinking about changing to SD for possibly lower insurance rates, but not with this info.
  16. I believe Sailuns are made by Cooper to their specs in China...I have had excellent wear/mileage out of their 17.5 tires.
  17. You should be satisified with the Sailuns...had a set of 17.5s that performed for 1000s of miles, inc AK trip. Went with the trailer when traded and still had like-new tread.
  18. MikeW, Were you not able to check the payload sticker on the truck before purchasing?
  19. "Unfortunately trailer manufacturers "spec" tires that fit the intended vehicle's unloaded weight. That was confirmed (in person, "eye to eye") with a mfgr's rep (Jayco). " The tire(s) have to be able to support the axle weight ratings....the axles will be supplied at a rating that covers the GVWR less the tongue weight. GVWR, not unloaded weight, is used to compile the least acceptable tire rating. Believe this to be FHWSTB? or NTTS? rules. These numbers will all be at minimums, not any higher. If you want more tire capacity, you have to be willing to do the research and come up with tire that others have generally had good luck with. If you want tires to last longer, besides the normal alignment/air pressure, etc, then choose a tire with a lot of extra weight capacity for your trailer. You can't know this without a valid weight on the axles, and a lot of RVers never make the effort to confirm where they are in tire capacity vs actual as-towing weights.
  20. whj469. Do you have shiny metal rods extending from frame to slide side when extended? If so, that is the ram part of the hydraulic cylinder.
  21. Never thought about that possibility...
  22. This will also work for re-registration yearly for full-timers--online forms to re-register, then 3 days for inspection when back in state.
  23. Mark, Not questioning the numbers, but wonder about the process of how you came up with them? Seems every fiver I have ever moved the hitch position forward, affected the front axle weight more. Been a long time since I messed with levers/fulcrums... Joe
