  1. Dan I am tandem and guess the unloading of the front axle will not be as big of an issue. Plus my wb is much longer.
  2. Randy can you send me pictures. Show ramps getting car on deck please.
  3. ATM is I-Shift or Auto Trans mission
  4. Could your ignition switch contacts be bad? To check turn key to on and start the truck with a remote start switch connected or jumped to the start relay. Your mechanic should have one.
  5. Plan A ; Someday I am going to take off the Slide-In camper currently on the deck of the Volvo 670 WB 305". My question is how far behind the rear tire can I place the 5th wheel hitch? From the edge of the rear tire to the end of the frame is 5 feet; might be able to sit at the 4 foot mark. However after sitting in a few bed building classes something tells me this should not be done. Would like to go this far back in order to have some of my storage box. Mostly would like to haul a car / Jeep on the deck but not length wise. If this is a bad idea then I move onto Plan B. Plan B would be to purchase a bumper pull 30 foot trailer and keep the Semi full length 38' so overall length around 70 feet. If I could do the 5th wheel plate that far back the truck would never pull a 45' long trailer due to over length issues. Thanks for setting me straight..... Pictures of my truck are in this tag line write up.
  6. Tell us details, what happens when key is hit? Strong battery, good ground connection?
  7. Just finished replacing my drivers side door rod. These are plastic parts which commonly break and when they do the door does not open from outside. Trick, put a tie wrap around the snap together section. $15 part at Volvo and they have many of them in stock. .. ..
  8. Nice looking about 300 inch w.b. more pictures
  9. Better purchase a locking fuel cap.
  10. For the money the Colbalt 20v is doing a great job. Much lass than the top of the line unit from Milwaukee. Glad I got it,Los of uses.
  11. Where are these bushings located?
  12. Well very recently I finally got sound quality high coverage Volvo truck insurance from Progressive Commercial, who knew they have a RV division and very willing to provide insurance. With my previous companies (Allstate) I was under insured and I knew this with rates around $42 per month. Allstate dropped all large RV customers or is in the process of doing so at the renewal date. Then I went to Progressive (not Progressive Commercial) and they dropped me without even telling me I could go to the Commercial side of their own company. You can't make up this crap, a logical person would think let's keep this customer and send him to our other division. So protect your assets and get $1,000,000 in coverage just in case it is your fault on the road. Stay safe out there and have fun on the road. From Westminster, Co. Oh the paint shop is in my near future; hood and roof.
  13. I got insurance today through Progressive Commercial (underwritten by: Artisan & Truckers Casualty Co) as a private truck. My rates are not bad and I took the $100,000 Liability coverage. The same company that is going to drop me in 24 hours under another division. You cannot make up this crap, it is real and the fix did not come from Progressive. Some would say they are a dysfunctional company and I would agree. Personally have worked for a few dysfunctional companies and they still are able to make money. Randyretired - heads up and big warning National General is a part of Allstate who dropped me Feb 2, 2022. They now have a company mandate to not renew any large RV's. I was with Allstate 5 years with the Volvo, my agent attempted to get me under National and they said Hell no. You will be given a 30 day notice, but your agent will know 3 months or more in advance. This is also no industry secret some of the other insurance companies know this and are taking on that business. Maybe I will share my adventure in this thread next week. This was hard for me (many hours) and hard for the agents I contacted, really HARD.
  14. Lazy Days just called me at 7:45 am, Grace knows RV insurance very well and is a Specialist with Progressive. I have found there are only 10 Progressive Specialist in the USA; finally I found one that knows the business (some DO not). State Farm is very expensive and they want 30 days to have Underwriting approve or reject. For those reading this post Insurance is much more difficult at least for me than others. Most of you have the advantage that you pull a 5er behind the truck/motorhome. By the way don't call it a Semi (red flags) Clock is ticking: Policy will be canceled at 12:01 am on Feb 26, 2022 because the Volvo has an unacceptable body style. I received this notice 5 days ago. So I am grounded for awhile and we use the rig for snowmobiling sometimes 2 to 3 weekends per month.
  15. I will write up my adventures on this Insurance topic making progress. Very time consuming and interesting rules to understand as always. Still finding ways to get quotes and NO's from other companies. Dennis
  16. Dave, Did you get your new propane tanks yet? What a good idea making room for taller tanks.
  17. Many thanks! Funny I left SF over 10 years ago to Allstate, was with SF for about 30 years. Will call in a.m.
  18. Just notified today that Progressive is dropping me in 5 days. My Totorhome semi is not qualified. Allstate dropped me previously because they are getting out of large insurance RV types. Not sure where to go next, any company suggestions would be great! Dennis
  19. Dirt sorry to hear this bad news about the battery fire; do you know the cause? Dennis
  20. My self inflicted pain has healed now that I an home. Last night ordered some Stayidne fluid was rated high next to Hot Shot. Had 911 Amsoil whis I used and 8 ounces of Sea Foam, just did not use until after the fact. On board the truck was also one bottle of Power Service and my heat gun but we just kept driving and waiting for full power.
  21. Jay is that why my coolant temps stayed so low 113 degrees. I understand why I could not develop power because the filters would not pass the fuel fast enough. My bad for not putting in anti gel, I have used this stuff for 30 years living in Colorado. Thanks gents, off to Walmart for more product.
  22. Sorry to say this but we must pull out of this rally. Now have family responsibilities that must be attended overlapping same dates. Have not cancelled my camp site yet in case someone needs it. Dennis
  23. I had same issue on my Volvo 670, darn thing shut down a number of times when I first owned it. Tag on the top of the reservoir says "Fill to Brim". Hard corners were setting off the low level alarm and shut the truck down.

    Diesel Gel Issues

Forgot to add anti gel fluid to my Diesel yesterday when stopped overnight in Raton, NM temps were just below zero. Truck started fine (plugged in) but would not go above 1500 rpm; luckily I had a bottle of 911 anti gel with me and only had 65 gallons of fuel in the tank so I added the entire contents plus 1/2 can of Sea Foam. It took over a 100 miles for the issue to clear out since the temps were averaging 15 to 20 degrees. While this was happening I noticed my coolant temp would not rise above 113 degrees. When the issue went away the temp went back to normal. Did this gelling issue do any damage to my nearly new fuel filters; should I replace them.
