  1. Morning everyone, I wanted to give a quick update. The engine is seized, the oil slick was ~ 15 of the 16 quarts of oil that were supposed to be in the engine. We are currently waiting on the insurance company response. Hope ya'll have a great day.?
  2. We are learning a lot. Thank you. Please continue - starting my question list/letter.
  3. Of all the Powerstroke Forums out there, which one do you recommend?
  4. Thanks, will figure out how that works on my phone.
  5. We have taken it to the Ford dealership the full timers at the park use. I have spoken with the Body Shop manager and repair coordinator. They have seen the pictures and know our situation. I just want to be sure I understand what they are telling me and what additional items to address. I cannot express enough how valuable York comments are. Please continue. :-)
  6. Thank you all for the replies. I am learning alot. Did not think about swapping out the spare: does the age of the tire matter? I know it does on a motorcycle. Will definitely be check out the Ford Diesel Forum. This is our first diesel and I am so nervous about them doing a quick fix - not my problem attitude (especially from the insurance side). THANK YOU all again. Please keep the comments and suggestions coming. I want to be well informed and not emotional as we deal with this incident.

  8. Thank you for the replies. I did not know you could keep a claim open - but having engine trouble in the future has been on my mind since the accident. We will definitely be kerring the claim open. Thank you. I did not know about shaving tread off, would we be better requesting two new tires? Sorry for the delay in responding, was watching the Texas Football rivalry. It was a good game.
  9. Afternoon, Thank you in advance for reading and hopefully replying to this question. Recently our F450 was hit by '13 Honda Accord at the front bumper/right tire area. Good news is - everyone walked away. Bad new is - the F450 is not drivable. Questions: 1) The oil filter was knocked loose and the oil drained out of the engine. It was a very large puddle of oil. We are not sure if the engine stalled before the key was turned off or not. If it did not stall, not certain how long the engine ran spilling out oil. How deadly is this to a diesel engine. I want to have some knowledge when the mechanic tells me about the engine. 2) A large chunk of the front tire was removed during the accident. The insurance only wants to replace the damaged tire. We have 18,000 miles on the truck. If the tread depth is no symmetrical does this effect the towing and handling properties? I know that you cannot rotate front to rear on a dually. 3) Any suggestions on how to insure that the rest of the motor and frame are undamaged? What questions I should be asking and what tests to require? I am nervous about not having the truck repaired correctly and hauling our 19,000# Voltage down the road. It is a safety issue for us and those around us. Thank you and God bless, Cindi
  10. Thanks everyone. Hope ya'll have a terrific Tuesday.
  11. Thanks everyone for the replies. I will check outside to insure that we have a "P" in the hoses connect to the drain. I will also go to the link posted. Thank you I tried searching the forums - obviously not good at it . I searched "holding tank", "black water" and "chemicals". The search returned several articles that had nothing to do with holding tanks - nice units for sale though . Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
  12. Morning Ya'll, I have a couple of questions: 1) do you leave the grey water tank/s valves closed when hooked up or do you fill and empty similar to the black water tank/s? a) if open, how do you prevent odors from coming up the pipes in hot weather? if closed, do you put chemicals in them? What do you recommend? 2) has any one tried RID-X® RV Toilet Treatment (Liquid)? I am thinking about replacing Odorloss with this. I have only found Odorloss at Camping World or online and was thinking that RID-X may be easier to locate as we travel. a) if you leave your RV for a week, can you fill the black water tanks with fresh water and use RID-X (or something similar) to clean them while gone? do you recommend have your tanks professionally cleaned? How often would you recommend? Thanks. DH and I have full-time for nine months now and are loving it. We have traveled to Albuquerque, Williamsburg, Cape Canaveral and Houston for DH's work. The F450 and Voltage are a good combination for us. Hope Ya'll have a fantastic Friday.
  13. @ camper_boy - we are still looking at your posting and pictures, we are trying to decide how much garage we need to comfortably transport our two dressers and his toolbox. We have seen several used Mobile Suites and are impressed with the quality. Thank you for the call, this has been a busy weekend. @ jloux2012 - thanks for the information on the truck, we need to test drive an F450 and F350 in the same day. My thought is to get the F450 in case we a heavier RV in the future (think the truck will outlast the RV).
  14. @ remoadiris - thanks for the heads up on the Heartland products, we have heard that from several people. Enjoy your evening.
