  1. Our normally routine tax prep has been complicated for 2015 by selling a sticks and bricks home, changing domicile state, selling several vehicles, buying another, buying an RV and going full-time on the road.. Does anyone have any recommendations for help with tax preparation? Bonus for tax prep in Texas near Houston/Livingston. Thanks!
  2. Okay. Last update I received was on this forum with a 4 wk estimate for production units to go out. That was over 8 weeks ago. I'll have to double check my records as for my card being charged or not. Thanks for the update... Wish a regular email would go out instead of having to track down information. I don't know his web site as I ordered over the phone from him via advice on this forum.
  3. I pre-ordered mine months ago and have received no updates. I'm wondering if I got scammed.
  4. Definitely have water coming in.. slide has been out and it's been raining like crazy and now the floor is much wetter than before.
  5. That slide is actually out further. The seals clear the windows on that one. On mine I have about an inch to go. Also we've been getting a lot of rain lately and as I was messing around looking for things that could be the cause I noticed the carpet is wet. The slide has been in, so not sure if it rain related or something else... But I'm a little concerned I have a leak somewhere...
  6. On the inside it's questionable.. That's why I'm asking. There's a sponge padding on the inside that just barely touches. It is about 1.5" thick so I suspect it should compress a little.
  7. 2009 Newmar Allstar. Post updated. Only a handful made in the U.S. Hopefully other Newmar owners have similar slides.
  8. Was wondering if a more seasoned RVr could tell me if this looks right to them. I picked up this RV a few weeks ago and I've been going through fixing up the things that need fixing. It is a 2009 Newmar Allstar Anyway, while lubricating the slides I noticed a couple things. The first thing I noticed was a small rip in the seal on the bottom of the bed room slide. I'm not sure it merits replacing.. but if I do decide to tackle the job is there a certain technique to doing so? The second thing is that the slide doesn't appear to be extending all the way out. I get this impression because the windows aren't clearing the seals. I found a nut that seems to be the adjuster nut for telling the slide when to stop, but before I back it off a couple turns I wanted to make sure that I'm correct in thinking it's not extending all the way and get any advice on doing it. I've attached some pictures to show what I'm talking about. https://www.dropbox.com/s/96bxuwoxiof7oju/back.win.1.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/b6241pv3kpl1c64/back.win.2.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/tfa1n9qvbrbbqdm/nut.1.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/krle1bjcll6xd17/nut.2.jpg

  10. The original intent of this post wasn't to get feedback on what I should buy. It was to try and get an explanation of the differences between the two devices and understand how the features work. ELI5 means Explain Like I'm 5 years old. It started off okay with getting basic explanations of what the devices do and that was the main thing I was looking for. I then started to get links to the sites that go in a lot of depth. My comments weren't directed at them not providing valuable information to the community. Instead I was trying, poorly on my part, to point out that the information is a lot more than a 5 yo could understand. I can't find anywhere that really talks about "how the feature works" in a way a 5 year old could understand. FYI, part of me asking this question was so I could figure out a simpler way to explain what these devices do and how they work to my children. Sorry if people think I'm being harsh on Jack and Technomadia, I'm not trying to be. I understand this stuff well enough to know what I'm looking for. I don't understand it well enough to break it down into terms my children can understand. I was hoping someone in the community might be able to.
  11. Thanks TCW, I've read all those posts already and I've been to the above web sites. None of them answer the question of which is "best" and always encourage the person doing the buying to figure out what is "best" for them. When I said "best" I simply meant best for me. I appreciate all their efforts to share their findings but they all sing the same song in the end. It's information overload and nobody really takes the time to "dumb" it down for anyone. Not that I'm looking for anyone to "dumb" it down for me. Just saying they aren't the best resources for helping people decide what to do. Anyone that's not familiar with this process can spend days reading and still not understand what they are reading. Unfortunately, I don't have a good alternative to send people to myself, so it's still the best we've got...
  12. Got my pre-order in. Now I just need to figure out the best device for WiFi pickup and rebroadcast.
  13. How do I put an order in? Site doesn't appear to let me. Any ETA when they'll start shipping?
  14. Gord, Any updates on the release? I still don't see a way to order it. Any chance you can get me on the order list? Or as a beta tester?
  15. Well here's the post that shows it off! http://www.rvnetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=118781
  16. After many months of research, walking through seemingly countless motorhomes (new, used, class A, class C) my wife and I found the perfect (for us) layout - the Newmar Allstar 4159. We found it on one of the other forums we frequent.. We came across this post: - New to Us 2009 Newmar Allstar 4159 And after many back and forth emails, numerous questions, tons of paperwork, and a flight across the country... Yesterday I took delivery from none other than jbmoberly76, lucky for us it never even went on the market. He was excited to help us get into the lifestyle and was gracious enough to work out a great deal with us. What a nice guy to part with his beloved RV. The timing was just right for everyone and my wife and I are excited to begin our adventure... Just as soon as I get back to FL to pick her, the kids, & the dog up. It's been one wild ride and I couldn't ask for a nicer seller and great experience. Right now I'm posting this after putting a few hours and miles behind me.; currently in Bonham, TX. Where I also just took delivery on my new Wrangler Unlimited. We sold our other vehicles and this will be our toad.
  17. It will be empty when I go through the weigh station. Won't get loaded until I get to FL to pick up the rest of the family. Would be nice to know either way. Is there a cost associated with the weighing? If so anyone know what it is?
  18. Hi All, I am buying a used RV in NM and driving it thru TX. My intention is to swing by Livingston to sort out all the details. I searched the forums but didn't have much luck in finding actual names and address for the most RV-friendly Inspection Station Weigh Station (just in case the NM title doesn't have weight on it) Thanks!
  19. What we've found is that the limit imposed upon Personal Effects on a per item basis make's it fairly useless to us. We don't have a lot of belongs... $5000 would easily cover most everything we own except technology. And the PE maximum of $500 /item makes it pointless to try and cover electronics with it. We'll likely go with a different policy or Scheduled Coverage to cover the electronics.
  20. Hi All, We are shopping around for RV insurance and have gotten almost identical quotes from two brokers (Farm & City and Millers) and both quoted Allied as the best fit for Insurance. I have yet to figure out any appreciable difference between the two brokers except that Farm & City offers Medical Limits of 10K for $10 premium and Millers offers PIP of $5000 for $13 premium. Does anyone have any experience with either broker (or PIP vs Medical Limits) that could help us break the tie? Thanks! ***for anyone thats curious, these are the criteria we are currently looking at getting... Liability - $250,000/$500,000/$100,000 Uninsured Motorist - $250,000/$500,000 Uninsured Motorist PD - $100,000 Comprehensive - $1000 Deductible Collision - $1000 Deductible Physical Damage Settlement Options - Agreed Physical Damage Amount - $150,000 Custom Equipment - $1,000 Personal Effects - $5,000 Roadside Assistance - $2,000 Full Timers Liability - Yes Glass Coverage - Yes ($100 Deductible) Awning Replacement Coverage - No Emergency Vacation Expense - Covered Under Roadside Assistance (plus either PIP or Medical limits)***
  21. sandsys, You've been with us the whole ride so far.. and we found it!! We finally found it. It wasn't listed for sale but we spoke with the owners and they are willing to sell it to us. We are working out the details now. We are hoping that everything goes smoothly! This is a motorhome we came across while looking for the ATME 3950, and we feel it's even better! Once we complete the deal I'll update this thread.
  22. Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations for a Primary Care Doc (GP) that is accepting new patients in/near Livingston Texas? Preferably someone who is familiar with rv'ing full-time and has a well-developed online presence. Bonus if they see kids too! Thanks!
  23. We just came across another set of floor plans we have never seen before.. and we are miserably in love... not a single one for sale in the country and it's gorgeous... 2009 ATME Floor Plans 4156 & 4159 I messaged a guy that I found on the forums that bought one a little over a year ago.. and he said his family is still in love with it. Unfortunately, for us...
  24. Just an FYI... Our ideal coach is the 2011 Fleetwood Discovery 42A Second to that is the 2007 Newmar Allstar 4154 Finally the 2007 Allstar 3950/3951 The Allstar has 8000 lbs of towing capacity (GCWR - GVWR) but only a 6k lb hitch. Assuming we could upgrade it to a 10k lb hitch and reserve 2k lbs of cargo for the trailer/jeep it would meet all our requirements. Unfortunately, we can't find a single one in the country for sale of the AllStar. So if you see one let us know! We found a 42A, but as mentioned above missed out.
  25. We were on our way to a coach we were sure we were going to get.. when the owner called us and said he received a call from a guy in NJ.. and the guy offered him cash and nearly asking price. Supposedly the guy is sending him a deposit today... sight unseen. So around we go again!
