  1. I have decided to sell my 2012 International ProStoar registered as a Motorhome. I have had this truck for 5 years, and spent quite a bit of money on getting everything working correctly. The truck has the MaxxForce motor with 375K Miles, the truck has run flawlessly for me for the past 3 years. I have receipts for about $25K in repairs. The truck newer tires since I have owned It. It currently has a trailer saver Air ride hitch with a gooseneck ball that can easily be converted to a 5th wheel with very little effort. The truck has a CAT diesel generator, and Xantrex Inverter(needs new deep cycle batteries, and maybe some tlc) a toilet with fresh and black water tanks and a sink. The truck bed is not quite finished and could use some paint and additional lights, but is very functional as is. I would like $29K for the truck but am open to offers. Only selling It because I need a 3 axle truck with a commercial hitch for my new trailer and I hate to undo all the work I have done to put the Air ride hitch on. forgot to mention, it has a 10 speed autoshift, and a 2.5 inch reciever on the back. asking $29,000 obo More pictures here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/oz54pcikslt0pvvaqgiyg/h?rlkey=c3pvu5nlymonhfkfz6yyq1i9n&dl=0
  2. Sorry if this is not in the right place, I am working on my horse trailer i just purchased and I am just getting ready to head to the Denver Stock show, and I might hit some rain and snow so I would like to patch these holes that had vents that needed to be replaced. I ordered them and they were promised today but it looks like the wont arrive until after I leave. that being said I need some way to patch the outside of my trailer that I can remove without too much trouble later. The inside I have covered by I am not sure what to do on the outside. I was thinking maybe silver HVAC tape, but it will be a pain in the but to remove later. Any ideas that will seal it up for a couple thousand miles but still come off easily?
  3. I had an 8 horse gooseneck trailer, but I got tired of getting flats, I was 22K on the trailer axles, which was right at the limit. Too many flat tires, this way I can put my wagon in the trailer as well.
  4. I https://i.imgur.com/nFcVXc7l.jpg was under the impression I could put 22.5 K on a dual single axle, I ran it over the scale the other day with 5 horses in it and I was about 18.5K so I think with a bit of creative loading I can keep it under 22.5 K. The trailer is 52 ft,
  5. I just wanted to get some outside opinions, I just pulled the flatbed off my 2 axle truck and put the commercial 5th wheel back on to go pick up my new horse trailer. Made it from Springfield Mo to California without incident. I am just concerned that when I fully load it up I will be over weight on the rear axle, So. I am on the fence about removing the bed and hitch from the 3 axle tractor that is also an RV, but the air ride hitch is much more involved, and I have quite a bit more invested in the bed and hitch than my 2 axle tractor, but it is also a lot newer International ProStar with the Max Force motor that I have invested 20-25K finally getting to run right after 5 years. I guess I am wondering if I should just sell the International, as an RV and purchase another truck or literally cut the International up and bring it back to the way it was when I bought it. There are plenty of commercial trucks out there that will meet my needs, but since they are commercial trucks there are either a lot more headaches involved than my current RV, or I could work on going through the process of registering a new truck as an RV which is no small feat in California from what I understand. Just kind of disheartened to undo all the work that I have done on the bed, which is not finished. I have also spent quite a bit of money fixing many small and few large issues with the truck. Would love to hear what you would do. I am going to weight the truck once I get some horses in the trailer this weekend and I guess that will give me a better idea of what direction to go.
  6. I am purchasing a new horse trailer, I have to go pick it up in Colorado, and it is a converted dry van trailer. So I need the commercial 5th wheel hitch and figure out the air lines. I am probably going to have to end up buying another truck that has dual tandems to support the weight but just to go get the trailer I think this is my best option I think.
  7. They are not the kind of bolts I can just pick up at tractor supply, they are shoulder bolts and they have a smooth section on them. Just worried I will use the wrong bolts and have issues.
  8. I just got done pulling my flatbed off so that I can reinstall a commercial hitch on my truck. I purchased one from a local shop, th was torched off the frame. Is it safe to reuse the bolts assuming they come off in good shape? I would love to hear your opinions
  9. Thank you That is what I am looking for
  10. I need to add a 2.5 inch receiver hitch to my truck, does anyone have any pictures they could share, I searched but did not find much. Any "kits" on the market to help, at this point I am kind of looking to do something like this https://rock-solid-motorsports.com/products/1-rsm-mega-pintle-hitch-kit-for-semi-trucks?variant=42350788346053 minus the big d rings, but I would like to make it look a bit more awesome
  11. I will say that I had a wood bed on my Freightliner when I purchased it, it vibrated apart, They had assembled it with construction screws, so I added steel angle brackets and aircraft lock nuts and the wallowed out the holes in 6 months. I finally replaced it with a metal one. Just my experience.
  12. I typically only stop when crossing state lines when hauling horses(required if scales are open), or it says all towed vehicles must stop, never had an issue in the last 20 years.
  13. Not really HDT Related but I am currently building a new Draft horse Hitch Wagon, and to save weight I am going to use an aluminum plate floor, I just need some help deciding how thick to buy, obviously I am trying to keep weight down but I also dont want a bunch of flex, the subfloor is .75x.75 16 gauge square tubing on 12 in centers, the floor is 50" wide. I am kind of leaning towards .100, the next option down is .063 which I think will be to thin. I would love to hear your suggestions.

    Trucks Batteries

Let me start with the fact that I am not a battery expert. Under ideal conditions, with brand new batteries at full charge you could probably do it, the issue you run into is when your batteries get a bit older, and the weather gets a bit colder, the harder you draw from the batteries the more quickly they will die. So while technically probably could start your truck with 2 batteries the lifespan will be much shorter, and on top of that you will have much cushion.
  15. My truck is currently registered in Montana under an LLC, but currently I am paying the Luxury tax for the next 2 years so my tags are about 1000/year. Working on old truck title I found that Vermont has pretty lenient registration laws, and my truck would only be $140 for 2 years. Just curious if anyone has ever done this or had issues because the truck was titled as a Motorhome? Thanks in advance Nick

    ice and snow

I just got back from a horse show in Georgia and Florida, during my trip home I hit a bit of snow in LA, MS, and TX. I have driven through a bit of snow before, but typically a couple of hours or a half day of snow and I am good. I was shocked to find out how spending a bit of time in the snow caused serious mechanical issues. The worst thing that happend to me is that my truck airbags would not inflate, this made it basically impossible to park and get out without the help of a tow truck. then my trailer air suspension accumulated so much ice that the ride height system froze. Finally and probably the most inconvenient is that all the doors, switches and plugs froze. Luckily this was probably a once in a lifetime incident but still I cant get over how unprepared I was to deal with the ice and snow. fortunately I always carry a set of chains but from now on I will always carry 2, and a propane torch.

    To get a newer truck?

I have to say I am not as into HDTs as many here, but I own a 2000 FL C112 and a 2012 International Prostar, and while neither of these are Volvos I would say do whatever it is you can to stay with a Pre Emissions truck, especially for an RV. The emissions are super complicated and any time the light comes on it needs to go to a certified repair facility and have a clean bill of health before it can leave. The new truck is nice, but I would stay pre emissions
  18. it was actually the flush valve on my toilet, I just replaced the entire unit since I had it out.
  19. I have not gotten around to pulling the toilet, on the list for today. thanks for all your input
  20. I dont see any numbers on the toilet, where are they normally located? and it installed in shut a way unless I can hire a double jointed midget I am going to have to remove the toilet to get it off.
  21. Let me start by saying I like to buy american, that said, it is not always in my budget sometimes when it is I would rather have a superior product. on a tow rig I will almost always have Goodyear steer tires, they are mostly made in the us and are a great tire with great quality control, on my daily driver that is what I have as well. on a dually that I drive a decent amount every tire I have is either a Korean or Japanese tire brand maybe made in China maybe not, but I have found these tires to do well and cost far less and heck there is redundancy in the mix. on my trailers I find rim size more important than most factors, I avoid trailers with 15 inch rims, and 16 inch rim size I try to go cooper because they are made in the us and are a bit on the economy side so I can replace them more often. That said given a preference i would choose a 17.5 Yokohama over everything else on the market, just had better luck I guess.
  22. call me crazy but it went with .120 wall with quarter inch plate and It is plenty stout enough. to me .25 cross members would be a bit over kill that said I went with 2x8x.120 rails and 8 inch channel setting on the frame I just could not see adding more weight from the cross members
  23. Sorry this is not HDT Specific, but I need help identifying this part. my toilet started squirting out water all over the place then this fitting finally let go, i assume it is an RV specific part or a high highly specific plumbing part but I need it to make my water system work so any help you can offer would be great! here is a picture.
  24. I had the same issue with the same insurance company, I just added a flatbed trailer to my policy that I had on my regular auto policy and they were happy. They just wanted a vin to put into the system.
