  1. Did not have much luck repair the original know. Instead went this direction. Dorman 455-5001 Heavy Duty Air Shift Knob. The Dorman knob does not include any air line fittings. So I got these: 5/32" DOT Air Fittings, DOT Brass Push to Connect The transition piece on the Dorman knob does not mate well with the factory sifter boot. I ended up trimming that piece to somewhat adapt, it will probably require some black Gorilla tape finish. I did not get to test drive (to many things to move to get truck out of Q-hut), it however did appear to be leaking any air.
  2. Got the knob removed. They appear to be 1/8" air lines. Was not able to remove the collet. I'm also not having much luck find the 1/8" size collets or O-rings
  3. Anyone have any experience fixing a Rockwell 10 speed shift knob that is leaking air. (1999 VNL610) Mine is leaking at the fitting, as shown by red arrow in picture. Found the leak/leaks late yesterday and did not have time to investigate further. I've done repairs on the air manifold and other air accessories and assume they are these similar to the collet & O-ring's used there? (Push the collet in to release the line, then pull collet out, remove old O-ring, replace with new?_ Guessing removal of entire know assembly would make it easier to work on. I don't recall any this small in the repair kit previous purchased.

    HDT advice

    Sound like a good move!
  8. 1999 VNL610 Cummins M11 I’m getting little to no air through my HVAC dash vents, floor or defrost. Does not matter if it's a/c or heat. This seems to have happened gradually overtime. What I’ve done so far with little to no improvement: Removed fresh air cabin filter housing, cleaned that intake area (drain was plugged). Also verified the fresh air door is working via cab controls (closed, partial, full open). Can see thru the fresh door firewall opening all the way thru the a/c coil in cab, so it’s clear. Replaced “Fresh Air Cabin Filter” at firewall. Heater core is clear, can see thru it with upper diverter ducts removed, so externally the heater core is clear. Replaced blower motor. (Old one was working. New one appears to spin just as fast old one did.) Verified no duct blockage. I removed the individual ducts from the top of the air distribution. Put the shop vac hose blowing thru each duct (dash vents, floor, defrost), each was getting plenty of air volume. Believe I have verified that HVAC control that operates where to send the air is working. I can see that the 3 individual duct dampers work via the control lever. Operating the blower speed switch. I can hear the speed change from 1 to 2 from 2 to 3 and no noticeable difference between 3 to 4. Any thoughts on what else to try? At this point I’m leaning towards replacing the blower resistor.

  12. I was considering a weed burner setup awhile back (still have not done it yet) and Roger (Hewhoknowslittle) shared with me what he did on his Volvo. Picture link: https://s42.photobucket.com/user/rogerjones218/library/Bed Build?page=1 Parts list: (1) Donaldson muffler part number M120749 (1) 90 degree x15" inches long elbow #L590-1515A (1) 45 degree X8 inches long elbow # L545-0808A (3) band clamps # PF-5SS (1) Curved chrome pipe #K5-18sbc Mounting bracket for the muffler we made out of the old stack mounting bracket, welded them to the fairing mounts and made straps to hang the muffler.
