  1. We recently had an electric fuel pump go out in a 2003 E-450 Super Duty chassis under a Jayco Greyhawk. We got a tow to a repair place close by that allowed us to sleep over in the parking lot. The next morning we went to have breakfast and upon returning found out something which I continue to be concerned about. The empty gas tank was on the floor with the top plate removed where the fuel pump was removed, but with 3 of the 6 studs broken off. Apparently the top of the tank collects moisture and the nuts were very rusted after 15 years. They assured me that all measures were taken to prevent this from happening. Luckily the studs were in semi staggered locations and with a new rubber O ring, they didn't think that I would have a leaking problem. Although they did say that I might want to repair it someday. Upon asking about how I would even know if it was leaking, they said that the "check engine light" would come on if it detected any vapor leakage in the smog system long before any gasoline leaks assuming the new O-ring did it's job. Well it's been over 2,000 miles and no check engine light yet so I assume that I am OK but I continue thinking about it. A new gas tank is around $1,000 and the physical labor is more than I care to take on. But then I think about the day when I am out in nowhere and have to take care of it. Against my better judgement I'll probably continue counting on the 3 existing bolts and the new O-ring and the thoughts that the check engine light will let me know. Any Opinions and Advise Would Be Greatly Appreciated !!!
  2. We are planning the above mentioned trip in the next couple days and would appreciate any comments on this trip like : how are the roads, how long it may take driving slowly, any good places to camp or boondock along the way and any must see or must do items. Thanks Ahead of Time
  3. We are in need of a reasonable shop in San Antonio, Texas where we can have our solar system worked on. Also a good place to buy AGM batteries. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Thanks everybody for the creative ideas concerning how to live with the problem, But I am looking for ideas and opinions on how to REPAIR the problem.
  5. Looking for ideas...... We have a 13' slider topper that when extended sags maybe 2 inches and flaps in the wind when slider is out. Carefree topper is less than 2 years old. Carefree said to tighten the tension on that corner spring to pick up the slack. When I brought it up to my service tech who replaced the canvas recently he states that he had attempted the spring adjustments but believes that the actual slideout is no longer centered to it's original location........Slider seems to work well. I was also told that there is a spacer plate available to put under the existing mount on the face of the slider which would remove slack but Carefree wasn't aware of that part.
  6. Arriving in Quartzsite next Friday, this time we want to stay in a park. Any suggestions on places close in that are decent with fair pricing??
  7. Thanks to all of you who shared ideas of places to see while in Texas for the month of February. Apparently the Hill Country is very popular. Are there any favorite routes or loops anyone might be able to share with us? It now appears that we will get to El Paso about January 20th giving us over 5 weeks there, so we are heading for the warmest places 1st. Any suggestions on that topic?
  8. We are wanting to explore Texas the entire month of February. As we have not been there before, I was hoping to get some recommendations on some of the more popular areas. We will be entering from El Paso. I have heard about the the "Texas Hill Country", are there any favorite routes or loops to consider? We definitely are drawn more toward the warmest areas........Any advice or opinions are greatly appreciated.
  9. I have been looking for a remote monitoring system for the RV as we sometimes leave our dog behind. We have read about the Homeminder by Minder Research but the independent reviews were a bit negative. Does anybody have one of these that could share some opinions? Also have seen some information about the Temp Stick and also the Nimble but haven't formed any conclusions in case somebody has any opinions on these too. This becomes a more important topic as we get into the summer months. Any new leads would be greatly appreciated.
