If you are looking at KN95 or other variations note that some of those models were tested by the FDA and granted  Emergency Use Authorization. Those and the South Korean variants are known to be effective. The EUA was withdrawn earlier this month because N95's are more available. These are for medical use in high risk scenarios so even the listed KN95's are going to be much better than any cloth mask or regular medical mask available. The key is to look for blown polypropylene and a good fit. Even if you can get a N95 (ebay has them also) be sure to look at 3M's website ahead of time to get an idea of the fit. I use the 9210 white colored foldable mask while my wife uses a blue one that fits her face better. Retired nurse.

  2. The Lippert Ground Control 2 has been the bane of my existence over the last 6 years. It sounds like your gear mechanism broke. That can be fixed with the repair kit. They keep getting more expensive. I think this is the part. Look a little more on etrailer or Lippert site to make sure. Stromberg and Venture make the same part and it is sometimes cheaper. Etrailer has instructions. Basically you pop the top off and the repair is done by replacing the gear components. Usually if you open it up you can see the problem. Often the drive shaft breaks or the protective drive pins snap and get caught in the gears jamming the whole thing. I have the largest Arctic Fox fifth wheel and I think it is just to big a unit for the legs. Unfortunately I have taken about 5 of these apart always at the most inconvenient time I need to make the repair.   3. It certainly can be done. I think you will overdraw the cigarette lighter circuit and blow the fuse. The cigarette sockets  usually are rated for 15 amps or less. You will be pulling about 25 amps with a much higher surge. Do you have the battery pack size to support this?

    Randy you must be watching Andy's videos also. What a wonderful series.   A number of people on the DIY SOlar Forum have purchased Santan panels and are happy. I have not read a negative one yet.

  5. I guess the part that threw me Kirk, other than the longevity, was the part where he had 22 cells and then reduced it to 10. That voltage doesn't make sense. Unless he was saying someone else owned this battery and he harvested the cells for that reduced price and made his own battery at the needed voltage. Then I guess I find the story believable. I know that Lithium Titanate cells also have an extremely long life but other drawbacks.

It has to be clean and any eterbond used has to have the paste applied then the roll on. 1 gallon took care of the paste and I had a lot of eternabond on ours due to mini split upgrade. It does stick to everything and cleanup can be a chore. I would advise taping up like preparations for painting. A plus to Henry's one can put on slide outs. Also it is made for epdrm roofs

    I think the is a huge factor Glenn. When I took ours in for flexarmor, the AC and all skylights came off, antenna, cargo bars etc. The drip rails came off and all other roof moulding. Then the entire surface was checked and prepared. Then the reinstallation of everything including new vent covers. It took 4 days. That would take forever trying to do yourself if even possible to do yourself.

    A lot of the pricing difference is in the labor.

    Yes with the system he is describing I would be surprised if he doesn't have that but, if not, he definitely should. Then he would know the exact amp hour situation on the Battleborns. The more I think about this the more I suspect bad settings on the Magnum and then the BMSs on the Battleborns shutting down which then shut down the 12 volt system which in turn shut down the Magnum. I think the Battleborns may have been doing much more than working that single night. The Magnum needs to see batteries. I suspect the washer-dryer issue is a red herring and due to a misunderstanding. We all know how hard it is to figure out a brand new unit. Anyway, it could be a multitude f things so I hope he solves the mystery for us.

     

     

  8. Yes, is this an outdoor or indoor progressive? Next stop would probably the transfer switch (if you have generator or are generator ready) a frequent source of problems, and then to the main ac panel. All the wires in your ac panel need to be confirmed as tight. I also am still really stumped on the washer dryer. Do you know the location of the washer dryer breaker in the subpanel?

     

  9. I once had a floating neutral those here called it. The problem was intermittent. Turned out there was  a shorting taking place in my electric cord reel which would show up some times and not others. Obviously something should not run that is not intended to be in the circuit. The 3012 hybrid qualifies electricity before it lets it through. That is what is happening during the delay before you plug to shore power and it kicks on. If it sees something it doesn’t like it will not allow the charger to operate and it will not pass through current. So yes the 3012 could have a problem in doing checks OR there could be a problem. The first thing I would do is get a multimeter and check the shore power and the power at your main box. I would switch sources of shore power since that could be causing the issue. If the problem is still there you will know the problem is from your electrical cord in. I don’t know enough to be of more help. You may be able to find my old posts when people were guiding me through this problem. Try my user name and neutral. Hopefully, John, Kirk and the other experts will be by to give you some of their expertise.

  10. Yes. I agree with John on all of the above. I came out on the other side of whether to increase solar panel to 48 v but I could be very easily convinced to go that direction depending on my roof layout and if I frequented parts of the country were partial shading was more of an issue. (I bypassed the factory prewire and ran 2 awg wire from my roof to controller or I am sure I would be in a 48 volt configuration  I asked about your inverter/charger because I consider that an extremely i,important component. Maybe more important than the batteries. To really see the benefit, power and flexibility of that battery bank you should be looking at the Magnum Hybrid series or the Victron Multiplus hybrid line.

  11. Yes, that will work.  You run the voltage from the panels to the mppt charge controller and then 12 volt out to the 12 volts system of the motorhome and to charge the batteries. I assume you also have an inverter that runs off 12 volt. The size if the charge controller will not be maxed out because the rating is based on the output amps which for 12 volt will be twice has high as if it was running a 24 volt.   If you switched to a 24 volt battery though that would require you to also have a 24 volt inverter and a downconverter to change the 24 volt to 12 volts to run your 12 volt system.

    You could also run two or more of you solar panels in series to get a higher voltage down to the controller. For instance 2 24 volt panels in series would be the same as one 48 volt panel. You would then run other pairs of 24 volt panels in parallel to get a 48 volt system. Although higher voltage achieved by running panels in series makes the wire run to the charge controller more efficient it has the downside that if one panel in a series of panels gets shade it will take down the output of all panels in that series. For that reason I think your proposal of running 24 volt panels wired in parallel down to the charge controller is a good idea. The Victron is a good choice as long as battleborn tells you it is appropriate for their recommended charge settings. Do you know what inverter charger is running in your motorhome and whether battleborn is good with that charger. 

    I do not know about Victron's isolator but I would imagine your motorhome already isolates the starter battery from the others. I own only a fifht home so I will defer to others on that topic.

    I think the best resource for you right now would be Jack Mayer's website on RV Solar. He still stops by here now and then. Reading through that a few times makes all of this terminology less mysterious.
