  1. My RV has been in storage for awhile. When I went to check it, all of the batteries were dead. The trickle charge solar panel wasn’t getting enough sunlight. The battery switches were green so I thought that I may have left them on which is a strong possibility. However, I couldn’t switch them off. They kept showing green. Why is this? I’m going back with my lithium jump starter pack to try and start it up and get the gennie running. I have no AC plug to charge it up without driving it home.
  2. A sad sight to see. Hope that no one was injured.
  3. Fpmtngal is right about the West Coast. We just returned from a 3 week trip. Left (Sonoma County in California) in August to escape excessive heat and smoke and the parks were full. After, 3 weeks of fresh air on the California and Southern Oregon coast, they filled up with thick smoke Labor Day weekend from the surrounding new fires. The parks emptied out after Labor Day. Fortunately, the fires are almost contained and the smoke is getting better, especially on the coast. It’s been an interesting year for RVing. Seeing lots of new RVers on the road.
  4. Docj, thank you so much for this info. I will look into getting the switch and power insert.
  5. I recently upgraded to the Genie DVR in my home. Can I take the main DVR receiver to the motorhome and use it with the Winegard G2 Carryout? I know that I would only get Standard TV, not HDTV if it works.
  6. I’m a little late jumping in here. We flat tow a 2012 Chevy Equinox V6 AWD. The 4 cylinder is also towable. We love it and would buy another one If needed.
  7. I have had both AAA and Good Sam roadside assistance at the same time. I know it’s redundant and expensive. I am at the renewal time and will reduce my AAA to basic plan. Good Sam will cover all vehicles solo or towing. They also will tow both a truck and trailer or motorhome and towed vehicle depending on what’s disabled. They cover all types of trailers. To be sure, read their brochure online. Years ago, I had a flat tire on the fifth wheel, then pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway. I called AAA first, the guy came out and said that he couldn’t change the tire (I provided the weight of the RV, etc). and he left. I called Good Sam and they sent Les Schwab who came out equipped for tire repair and changes for big rigs. He had it done in about 15 minutes. i think the fella from AAA was fearful of changing the tire on the freeway shoulder, but will never know why. I was sold at that point. CoachNet is also good. I’ve only kept AAA for our passenger cars at home (they’re quick to respond) and for map/travel services, DMV, etc.
  8. I know this is an older thread but I see that the OP, PAylor never responded to anyone’s postings. I have a bike that can be pedal assist (PAS) or zero PAS which is with a throttle. I debated this and am glad that I have both. I converted an Electra Townie cruiser with a kit. When I did it, my knees and hips were in good shape. In the meantime, I developed arthritis in my hip. I’m happy to have the throttle for when my hip is sore. Although, I use pedal assist most of the time, you’ll find that you’ll travel farther and it’s nice to have the throttle to get back to your starting point or on steep hills. The other point is you get what you pay for so don’t go too cheap. You want to make sure that the bike can be serviced/supported and has a good lithium battery that can be replaced. I only wish that I had wider/fat tires for riding off of asphalt. I have taken my bike on trails in National Parks and out-of-state. No registration required due to the motor size. Many trails do have restrictions for no more than 750watts so know about where you are riding and be safe. Here is a link to a forum with a lot of great info: https://electricbikereview.com/forum/ BTW, I love my ebike!
  9. I agree with Dutch. I found the recreation.gov new website not as easy to use as the old one. I don’t know if it was my devices (yes, I was using 4!), but the server was very slow to load available sites and refresh at a critical time while booking Yosemite reservations early in the morning of the booking window. I recently logged into Reserve America. I was disappointed to find that they didn’t archive my old California State Park reservations as California unfortunately switched to their own reservation site. I was trying to pull up old campsite numbers that I had stayed in. I haven’t used the updated Reserve America site for booking yet.
  10. We've been towing a 2011 Equinox 6cyl AWD for 3 years. Instead of pulling the fuse, we had the brake installer put in a switch. I read many threads on the 4cyl "death wobble" and it appears that leaving the fuse in will fix the issue with the steering.
  11. At Yosemite the length not only has to do with the pad, but more so about having enough room to back into the site because of trees, rocks etc. that may obstruct the site and road. The standard sites or RV sites will work if they specify that they are long enough. The difference between a RV specified site is that it may not have a level space to set up a tent for those who have one.
