  4. The following message was emailed to me by Winegard: The Carryout G2+ will continue to work with DirecTV as long as you have a HD receiver. We suggest the H24 or HR24 receivers. Your antenna will continue to get your SD programming as it is now. DirecTV is ending service to the SD only receivers.
  5. I am waiting for more feedback on my post about the G2+. I still don't know if I need the "Power Inserter" to set it up or to run it. And a Power Inserter is used on the SWM system and I had that system for several years. It was used to bump up the voltage to 18 to power the LMBs. " SWM power inserter". This copy was taken from my old literature stash. Jim
  6. I purchased second hand a Winegard G-2 to be used for Direct that is one year old. No manual or "Power Inserter" was included. The seller couldn't remember using the power inserter and couldn't find one. Will it work without the power. Inserter? My receiver is Direct HR54/700....... Jim Ault Update. Upon reading other questions on this forum, it is stated Direct will stop sd this year. Can Winegard update the G2 for HD?
  7. Thank you very much for your replies. I'm new at getting apps and want to add what has been recommended. I tried the Winegard but I couldn't understand how to use it. Would someone please call me to help answer questions on which ones would help me. I want to practice at home before the trip. Jim Ault 480-319-5806
  8. I started with Direct in 1993 and have used a tripod, compass and luck in a connection, traveling from North to South West to East as far as the Maritime Provinces. Without setting up in recent years and with my "Smart" phone, what is a good app for finding satellites? This Summer I will be setting up in 4 locations in S. CA. Buying a "Carry out" isn't in my plans. Thanks Jim Ault, overlander1@live.com

  14. I am retiring my tripod antennas after 22 years and I am ready to buy an automatic ground carry out. I am able to switch providers. I have heard Dish performance is better to see through obstructions. We mainly travel in the Northwest and find plenty of trees. Please advise me of your experiences. HD is preferred but not necessary. I have seen one with a switch for either service. Thanks............ Jim Ault 480-807-0333
